Daryl, the other customers who responded are incorrect. Sorry folks. The arms of this chair will fold over to the sides and dangle straight down. But the seat is strong and the seat will hold the chair together properly. If you remove the back cloth, you won't have arm rests as they will dangle. But you can sit on this that way if for some reason you wanted to.With that said - I can't see why you would want to. But it will work without the back panel. To precisely answer your question.
