If this stuff doesn’t work, NOTHING will.
My English Bulldog is a compulsive licker. It’s his go to soothing action for his anxiety, and if there’s no intervention, he will leave puddles of drool. Given that his paws are always within reach, we battle yeast infections from the excessive licking between his toes. Anti bacterial and anti fungal wipes can only do so much keeping these infections at bay. So I thought I’d try a bitter apple spray like a vet long ago suggested for my first bulldog with a similar issue. Order placed let’s see if it works. Bottle arrived inside a plastic bag / taped shut like Amazon does to prevent leaking, slight packing, inside a standard Amazon box. There was the tiniest bit of humidity inside the bag when I opened it, like temperature condensation - THAT IS ALL. Not even thinking about it, I pulled out the bottle, put it away, and threw out the packaging before going on with the rest of my to do list. Twenty minutes later, I sit down on the couch, open my book, read to the end of the page I was on, and that’s when it happened. I made the AWFUL mistake of licking my finger to turn the page… I pity AND commend whoever at Fooey works in R&D. No amount of spitting, wiping off my tongue or scraping it with my teeth, rinsing my mouth with water dulled the power of how awful this stuff tastes. I got it to LESSEN with Listerine, but I don’t know if that’s because it was a little more diluted or because Listerine is just as potent. All just from letting the moisture on the out side of the bottle dry on my fingers. This stuff is like the tear gas of licking deterrents - if this stuff doesn’t work and keep him from licking his paws, I wouldn’t even consider sending it back because those people at Fooey have redefined Due Diligence and deserve every penny I paid for it. I would NEVER use this stuff without gloves because I don’t ever want to experience that again. Hopefully your pets will feel the same way. And apparently I didn’t wash my hands well enough because I just got another zap… I wonder if Tecnu soap will wash it off. Yes, skunks and poison ivy would be comparable to the grossness of this stuff…

May work for your pet, YOU might be allergic!!!
So my dog was excessively licking his paws and causing small sores. After I got him healed up, I purchased this, hoping that it would stop him. He still licked his paws, but not as much. I allow him on my bed. I have an area at the foot of the bed that has his own blankets and that's his area. He is also free to walk around my bed. Sometimes I'll call him up closer to me to cuddle. I woke up after the first night with rash on a lot of my body, especially my hands. Having the rash on my hands really confused me because I used gloves to apply it. I did not want it to get on me. Just from the amount of time that he walked around my bed that night before going to sleep, it was enough to spread the spray ALL OVER anything he touched. I did not use an excessive amount if anything I used maybe less than needed to stop the licking completely. It is a terrible taste. I accidentally got a little bit in my mouth from touching the bed, and then later licked my finger to turn the page of a book. I brushed my teeth, I gargled with water. I tried drinking several different things. I could not get the taste out of my mouth for hours. So depending on how stubborn your dog is, it may work. If you do purchase this product, you will definitely want to keep your dog sequestered in one specific area. I used it on his paws, but even if you put it on the upper leg or a different part of their body, if they rub against something or YOU, it's going to be all over you and everything your pet touches with their body at all, EVERYWHERE! The bottle is large, it would definitely last a while. It is VERY HARD to completely wash off!!! I had a lot of trouble getting it off my hands. I washed them several times, with several different soaps. I even tried using some rubbing alcohol. It also took a few days until it was finally off his paws. Apparently, you just have to give it time. As far as how well it works on your pet, Im not sure. My little guy still licked his paws. I also want to add that my dog has short fur, so it's not like he's very furry, and it was all over his fur and that's why it got everywhere. It might be effective for other pets. Unfortunately, it did not stop him from licking. I ended up with a terrible, painful rash that lasted days! I don't have sensitive skin normally. So it makes me wonder how strong this really is? Maybe it's just too strong!!! It was a terrible experience!

Not Sure Why It Didn't Work on My Puppy
While I don't doubt this works on a lot of dogs, my miniature schnauzer puppy wasn't phased by it and I think he actually liked the taste, and we saturated the things he was chewing on with this stuff. We finally had to stop for fear of it hurting him. We finally used Wasabi on the plastic stuff he was chewing on and that stopped him. He won't go near it now, and he's fine. That worked in our case not sure how good or bad wasabi is for dogs, but one lick and he wanted nothing to do with it.

Works so far. Wear gloves and face mask when applying on said items. You’ll thank me! 😃
We bought this because are little brats cats keep chewing on everything! Our kittens are about 9 months old and still in a chewing phase even though they have so many toys including chew toys. Instead they have destroyed 4 of our camera cords to the cameras we have throughout our house, uncountable iPhone chargers and shoe strings, my Apple Watch charger, a lamp cord, and a bunch of other random cords including our adjustable bed! Fortunately that one is much thicker and harder to chew in had unlike everything else. Anyway, I wish I bought this stuff much sooner so we didn’t have to replace so many things. Clearly they’re not cheap. Luckily I was able to find replacement cords for the cameras but I haven’t hooked them up yet. This spay is definitely bitter and it works for now. Almost everything that was replaced was sprayed with this stuff and so far our little devils haven’t gone back to chew them up again. They don’t actually eat the cords or wires, they just chew them in halves or multiple pieces. They must like the taste of the plastic or wires. Especially the ones that are white…. I HIGHLY SUGGEST when you use this stuff, wear plastic or rubber gloves because it will stay in your finger and hands for a long time. Doesn’t matter if you shower, or wash your hands 10 times! It stays on for a while!! I even used that orange scrub for mechanics to remove grease, plus dawn soap, lemon juice before the orange scrub and it still wouldn’t come off for awhile day or 2! Using an oil or thick lotion to coat your skin before hand helps a little bit but gloves would be much better to avoid this issue all together. If you smoke a cigarette, eat or touch your lips in any way, it will get on them!!! Again this stuff taste nasty, hence the reason it keeps animals from chewing things so it does its job! I all recommend wearing a covid mask for anything to cover your nose and mouth as it goes through the air. Use it in a well ventilated area if possible. It’ll get in your nose and on everything else too. Even if you spray it on a paper towel first, then rub it on an item. I have only used this stuff once or twice on each item. I’m not sure how long it last but I plan on using it every few weeks just to keep things protected. I haven’t tried it on furniture yet but I might this weekend after doing a patch test to make sure it won’t ruin the material ( leather and suede) There are a few corners of the recliner they scratch time to time, and under our adjustable bed they go nuts scratching it! But I feel like this could help because the double sided scratch tape I put on the bed, unfortunately doesn’t work since they’re still scratching. And they’ll try to eat it as well so it’s useless.

Stays on surfaces a really long time
The stuff works fantastic for puppies who are trying to do or mouth everything. The only problem is, make sure that you don't get any of it on your own hands. My husband forbade me from using it on any more items, because when you make contact with surfaces it transfers to your hands even after it's dried. He would wash his hands and then touch the surface of the couch that I sprayed and then go to eat his food it tasted very bitter. There was no scent, it's safe for dogs, it's a great training tool, just remember to not touch any of the surfaces that you've sprayed if you want to enjoy your meal.

It works too well, extremely potent, will get on your hands and stay there
Overall this is a good product. I'm surprised some other reviewers are saying it's not bitter - it's insanely bitter! I have 2 bunnies and only carpet in my apt.. So they try to eat up the carpet. Wherever I spray this, they will avoid. There's 2 big problems I have with it though 1) The nozzle sucks and you will get some on your hands. You almost need gloves to spray it. Plus, it's potent and it's hard to scrub it off of your hands. I've licked my finger while eating well after 10 hours of spraying this only to get hit with a huge wave of bitterness. It's particularly more troubling if you have cats or dogs that like to lick you... because they'll stop once you have some of this on your hands! 2) Each spray only covers a small area. I wish it covered a larger area. My bunnies will avoid wherever I spray it, but they'll immediately find some other area that hasn't been hit with it. It would take forever to cover the whole area.. so now I spray it, watch the bunnies to see where they'll try to bite next, spray it, rinse and repeat... now, that wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for number 1. Each time I spray I get more and more on my hands, and since I'm waiting for the bunnies to strike again the spray is getting soaked into my skin. So now it's: spray an few areas, furiously scrub my hands, oops missed a spot, spray a few more areas, scrub the first layer of skin off, over and over and over. It's just a pain in the butt. Lastly, this is probably only specific to my bunnies personalities, but ever since spraying this my bunnies are way more aggressive in finding another spot to chew up. They use to run and play for a long time before calming down and chewing on carpet. Now it's run to find an un-sprayed spot and immediately go to town. Perhaps the spray is so strong to their little noses that close to the ground that they constantly smell it and are upset - who knows.

Works great for my dog that chews her tail!
I have a dog that chews the hair on her tail, daily! This product was recommended to me and I've been using it now for almost 2 weeks and it works great! She has not touched the tail hair once since I started using Fooey. I like that it doesn't have an overwhelming scent (it really has no scent). I also like that *for the most part* this product is way less intrusive for the humans in the house, yet tastes so terrible. You WILL be able to taste it, even if you don't come in direct contact with the spray. That's normal, it's extremely bitter and "drying" in your mouth. If you get this product on your hands, and even if you wash your hands well, and you touch your mouth, you will be able to taste it more strongly. That's just part of it all and doesn't bother me. I've used the bitter apple/bitter orange tubes and this is SO much better! The spray bottle with the Fooey is super convenient and doesn't clog, and you can spray it on quickly right before you leave (dogs are most likely to chew a bandage - or hair - when you leave the house or leave them alone), so you won't procrastinate putting it on. I would recommend you wear gloves, for your own sake, but I rarely do and I don't have any issue.

Does not work for rabbits
This does not work for rabbits at all. I got it to try to stop mine from chewing up her hutch. I think it’s just made it more tasty for her. Not worth the money for rabbits and it smells horrible.

Need it to be replaced!
This is the third time I have ordered. Very disappointed this time, the package leaked! I will bot be able to use it at all… Spilled all over the plastic package! However, the overall product is great! Just needs improvement on how the product delivery was handled!

Lil monsters
I have four cats and honestly, they’re lil criminals. I was hoping this would keep them away from my plants but sadly, the only thing it does is scare them when they see me spray on the plants. But they’re not bothered one bit by it
