I noticed the box says 8+, but would a 5 year old be able to put this car together, at least With a little help?

The key here is 'with a little help'. The main problem is that kids that age (and even the 8+ mentioned) just don't have the patience to follow the instructions. Even though most of these kits have illustrated instructions, our Munchkins want to just dive in and come out with a fantastic toy with their imaginations as their guide! This is a GREAT little project to do WITH a child. Supervise, but let them do the handiwork as best they can. Although most of the parts snap together pretty easily, some of them may need just a bit more strength to snap than those little fingers can muster. ALSO, a GREAT way to teach them how to follow instructions in a correct 1, 2, 3, etc. order.

You can write to the company directly. They have always been responsive for me. They usually require proof of purchase and the instruction sheet with the missing parts indicated.

is this good for a car guy? My bf is 19 and LOVES care especially mustangs. He takes hotwheels cars and colors them with permanent marker.

I think it's great for a car guy! 10 - 15min build time, not complicated, looks good for the price.
