Big heavy battery, very bright light, old school bulb.
Mistrustful of so called 'super extra no joke omgwtfbbq bright bright burnyoureyesout LED spotlight's? Have you bought spotlights that used LEDs where the darn thing stopped working for no discernible reason after recharging it twice? Prefer to have heard of the company you are buying from? You probably should go back to the tried and true then. I did, and this one is reliable. The best part is the battery that pops right out and can be charged without having to move the whole unwieldy light around. It's a lead-acid battery, so while its a bit weighty, it's also really reliable and likes to be charged all the time. Just leave it on the charger when not using it and put it back on immediately after. Don't completely discharge it, Lead-acid batteries hate that. It has a trigger lock, so you can either lock it either the off or the on position. For the price, you can't beat it. A real value.

I love it
This is a great light. It is well built and tough. You can charge the battery in or out of the light which is very nice. you can get an extra battery if you want for longer light times. The light is very bright so it does eat up the battery fast, but all of these type of lights do. that is why this design is so nice. It was packaged well and arrived in great shape ready to use.

great light.
I use this light for light painting photography, It works great ! I do however think the battery life is a bit short, but i often think it may be a wise investment to just purchase another pack being as i use it differently then its average user. I did however knock off one star because If your traversed in the photography world on lighting forums you will see that the brinkmann lights sometimes have red, and amber gels included, Brinkmann from what i can tell has no rhyme or reason to which boxes they include the gels in, but i can assure you mine did not have them. The average user could probably care less though, but im still on the hunt for some :)

Worth the Money
Received it quickly and it works like a champ. In fact, it is brighter than a 10 million candle power spotlight I bought at PeP Boys. What is really good about it is you can leave the cord hooked up all the time without worrying about overcharging it. That's what happened to the one I bought at PeP Boys, I left the cord on too long and something happened to the battery. Now it only works in the cigarette lighter. I sold it in a garage sale for 5 bucks. Get the Brinkmann, worth the money!

Warning - Bad Switch
Ok so on the good note, this is a real good bright lantern with battery lasting about 30 min before needing charge. You will be able to tell cause the light will start dimming towards the end. On the bad note. The switch burned out after using this lamp 3 seperate times. I took the handle apart and using a bent paper clip, I bypassed the switch and voila, the light comes on fine. I suspect the made in China switch is not up to par with the specs and just burned out the contacts. Brinkmann needs an RMA number to send it back but their customer service is automated where if no one is available, you input your tel number and they will call back in the order the call was received. Whats even worse is that you have no way to leave your name so when they call back, they will just get the switchboard here at my work and then they have no idea who the call goes to.. well I'm going to have to call at different times to try to get a real person.

Amazing at first, then frustrating to deal with.
Worked great for 4 months, then the connectors seem to fall out. The short cord ( being curled it does not extend even 3.5 feet) no longer charges it needs replaced, now the battery no longer charges because the little connectors have fallen out ... and the battery when useable was amazing for the first 30 minutes for lighting up the fields. As time went on the ability for the battery to hold a good charge lowered to about 20 minutes of use and that includes a low dimming light for the last 5 minutes. Now I cant find a replaceable cord... hmmm :( and i now need a new wall charger.

Great for lighting up the yard!
Our new house has a fire pit out back, and when my sons and I do a weenie roast/s'mores party, it seems that something always ends up left outside. Puttering around with a regular flashlight leads to stubbed toes and rarely finding what's lost. This spotlight is like turning on the sun in the back yard. Its wide beam illuminates a huge area, and the brightness reveals even the smallest action figure. It's also great when we head to the woods for star-gazing gatherings. When the telescopes are put away, a few sweeps with Mr. Sun (as my sons have come to call the light) ensures we're not leaving anything behind.

Switch Failure ?
Purchased this in Jan 2011. Somewhat unwieldy but still usable. However, something failed in the light and so I assumed the bulb burned out. New bulb was sent me but it did not work either. So what next? I understand there has been a problem with the switch. I sent an email to Brinkman's customer service address from their web site but no response. Nothing is perfect but if Brinkman shows no interest in providing help to their customers then I certainly will avoid Brinkman products.
