As long as you can handle the heat yourself go ahead and "flavor it up". When you take other people good and eat it, you do so at your own risk.

Could it be used to make a topical cream when combined with other ingredients? What is the color/consistency?

A topical cream?... Like as in rubbing it on the body? Don't think you want to unless you like pain. As for the consistency its a little thicker than water

I want something I can use in food and mixed with a little water as a garden squirrel repellent. It'll need to be really hot. Will this work?

Isn’t as spicy as they claim, squirrels eat right through it like it’s not even there. I used multiple eye droppers with lots of oil, mixed with water and veg oil to make it stick to the seeds, squirrel just gives me the finger and eats right through it, I actually sprayed some in my finger, was like a medium Buffalo wing, very weak. False advertising.
