Patio Door Lock Problem, Solved
The lock cylinder on my patio sliding door had finally given up. Calling a locksmith for a patio door felt expensive and unnecessary. Prime-Line's E 2000 cylinder is exactly the kind of part that makes a DIY fix possible without any special skills. The brass housing and 5-pin tumbler construction feel solid and durable. Installation is straightforward for the intended application of surface-mounted patio door handle sets, and the hardened cut-away tailpiece can be snapped at multiple break points to accommodate different door thicknesses. One practical note worth flagging: during installation in a patio door, make sure the tailpiece is oriented correctly before fully seating the cylinder. A little test rotation before final tightening saves a headache. Also, the keys that come with this cylinder are unique to this lock and are not interchangeable with your existing Kwikset or Weiser keys even though the keyway looks compatible. This is a replacement cylinder, not a re-key of your existing system. With that understood, it is exactly what it needs to be: a reliable, affordable replacement that skips the locksmith bill.

It's a great little lock, but a bit of work to install!
Wow! It fit my vintage sliding door handle perfectly! Works great! You better be a handyman if this is a new install tho... my door didn't come with a lock and so the hole for the lock in the handle had to be drilled out... don't try and knock the slug out... pot metal doesn't tolerate abuse well... and there is a little notch that needs to be cut out to accommodate the bar that keeps the lock stable, a metal file works great for this... and make sure the hole you drill is slightly, very slightly larger than the key hole housing or it won't turn once you install it. And then you need to drill a hole through the door so the lock mechanism bar has a space to slide through...A little work... but it does work! Whew!

Fine lock, smooth operation, bad packaging
Works fine, does the job without issue. Knocking off a star because the packaging was broken and the lock mechanism had come completely apart (as in, tiny springs and tiny half-pins everywhere.) Luckily, Iโm mechanically inclined, and know how a lock cylinder goes together, so I was able to reassemble it using needle nose pliers, tweezers, and about 30-40 minutes. If this had come in a blister pack that keeps the lock immobile in the packaging, it wouldnโt have happened.

Rekeying info
The lock works well and was easy to install. Rekeying info: This lock cylinder is rekeyable and comes apart just like a deadbolt cylinder. However, the cylinder and pins in it are a slightly different height than regular kwikset cylinder and pins making the kwikset pins a little too tall. If you want to rekey it to match your existing kwikset doors you will need to file down the new pins you insert, just a bit, so that they are flush with the top of the cylinder. It is easy to do with a file for wood or metal and it doesn't take much work to get them down far enough to work in the lock with your existing key. As the cylinder and pins are a different height than standard kwikset, the key bitting depth is different than a kwikset, so if you want to use the new key to rekey all of your doors, you'll have to do the same thing and file down the new kwikset pins that you insert. Also, if this is the route you take, note that the key is a little thicker than a standard kwikset k-1 key so for the key to fit in a standard lock you would need to have a kwikset copy made. I found that our Lowe's chain hardware store had upgraded to an automated cutting machine that wouldn't copy the key so I had to bring it to a smaller hardware store that still did the cutting by hand. The new k-1 kwikset keys work perfectly in the lock.

Works but not to Kwikset specification
Iโm conflicted because while the lock works out of the box as a door lock (most of you are probably buying it for a patio door) with no issues when using the provided key, the whole purpose of the manufacturer posting โKwiksetโ in the title sets the expectation that it would work with Kwikset keys and thus conform to Kwikset specifications in addition to Weiser and Weslock which are also listed. As another reviewer mentioned, if you are planning to rekey this lock with Kwikset pins, I can confirm that Kwikset specification pins do bind the core. As I am not a professional locksmith, Iโm not going to buy a variety set of pins so that I can have the necessary pin lengths to work with this off spec lock. As I needed to rekey this lock for a project of mine, I went ahead and filed down Kwikset pins and am now able to utilize the an original Kwikset key. For any homeowner wanting to use this lock with a Kwikset key, donโt waste your time trying to rekey this yourself, just buy the lock and pay a locksmith the few bucks to rekey it to whatever key you want.

Horrible
My door handles fell off. I could reinstall because I didn't have patio door keys. I looked up new sets with lock and it was 120. Instead I chose this and disassembled the lock mechanism and switched it out. Not bad for an 113 dollar fix. I used a file to make indentation for marker easier to break. I have arthritis and was able to do this so don't worry about strength just kept going back and for on easier side and it will break. Update, it is too floppy to work, won't fit into the door, I notice between picture 1 which is original and pic 2 you can see that the tongue isn't stiff enough to go into the slot.also you can see the hole it resides in is way too big. I'm hoping this is defective and not how they build things. Waste of money and time

It simply works on my universal door handle
I purchased this for the rolling door of my basement. It came on time with decent packaging and sealed. I'm a regular DIY and installed it without problem. I attached pictures of before and after installation. It looks and works well.

Fit and Works as advertised.
Watched youtube instructions, punch out the hole. First try failed because I got it upside down. So it would not lock or unlock. After reversing the orientation, works like new.
