Great product.
When we decided to get a mandolin, I did a lot of research. I read many, many reviews on a lot of different brands and styles. We looked a may of them in the local stores. I just was not satisfied with their quality and sturdiness. We decided to purchase this one, the Bron Original Stainless Steel Mandolin. Well worth the price! The construction, sturdiness, sharpness and ease of cleaning. Hot water and the sprayer nozzle does it. I also like the fact that you can get replacement parts from Bron. I cant imagine i'll need any but it is nice to know you can. The box is also handy for storage. I do recommend cut resistant gloves, it is that sharp. It is our go to for a lot of things. When we first got it, I used one potato and one carrot to figure out how it worked. What a joy, i cant believe we went so long with out one. Want carrot sticks for the kids lunch, get a weeks worth in 5 min. want coleslaw, done in 10 min. And the kids love the fact we can have fresh french fries any day. I really don't under stand the reviews that say it is too sharp or hard to use!! Sharpness is a good thing. Hard to setup or hard to use? You have got to be joking right? Setup out of the box was straight forward, i like the edge brace, you can set it over the counter edge and really do a lot of slicing. The thickness setting is infinitely adjustable from paper thin to the maximum. I my opinion that is a good thing( if you don't know how thick a potato chip should be the instructions won't tell you). I looked at the instructions for about 30 sec. when I first opened the box. I did look at them again after about two months just to see if I missed something, nope.

The blades are stupid sharp, so make sure you use cut proof ...
Really well built mandoline. The adjustments are smooth but firm enough not to move while cutting. The blades are stupid sharp, so make sure you use cut proof gloves! One of my favorite things... it's made from really good stainless steel, and most of the time you can wash it by simply rinsing with hot water. The food holder/handle thing is also of extremely high quality. It has a spiked pad on the underside to hold the food in place that appears to be made of solid PTFE, which is not a cheap material (but excellent for kitchen use)! This mandoline just oozes quality. It's a joy to use. Definitely worth the money if you make fries/chips, julienne, or slice veggies on a regular basis.

Look no further
I was sold on this device when I decided to do a review, but had to test a couple things: French fries - leave it to the French to build a device that cuts pomme frites perfectly, and cuts carrots into perfect matchsticks. A+. Thin sliced onion - quick and perfectly sliced. This device does apples, too. A+. I got a whetstone to maintain the blade. No edge lasts forever. Sharpening is part of the upkeep. Cleaning is a matter of rinsing off vegetable starches and sugars. Let it dry. Easy. Bottom line is that this device replaces all of the slicing blades of a food processor. Plus - set up and cleaning takes far less time. The food processor will still be useful for hummus, pie dough, bread crumbs and grating cheese, but I'll use my Bron Coucke if not a knife.

Professional grade mandolin slicer
This has less capabilities than some competitors, but is well-built stainless steel throughout and does a great job with infinitely-variable slicing thickness, julienne for vegetable sticks, and shredding. The blade can be resharpened, but it was very sharp on arrival. It takes a little more force than V-cut or diagonal cut slicers, but works fine for firm vegetables. The thickness adjustment lever was fairly stiff; you may want to brace your hands on the sides and use both thumbs. Hopefully that will ease up with use. Other brands that are largely plastic have broken - this won’t.

A Very substantial Product, BUT
First let me say that the picture of this product is not accurate. The model I received has rubber feet up front as well as at the rear and it also has a fold out bar that can be hooked over your table edge to keep it secure. In addition, the sliding part on top is mounted backwards and anyone trying to use it this way would see what I mean. I wish people in marketing would pay enough attention to the products they are advertising to actually understand them. This an extremely well made product and I can see why folks have these things for 30 years or more. The all stainless body is a cinch to rinse and clean and put away. This is an excellent product for all crispy vegetables. French fries are particularly easy to make and in very short order as well. However as other reviewers have noted the straight blade is simply not sharp enough to deal with the tough skins bred into mass grown tomatoes. We invited company for lunch the first time I had a chance to use the mandoline and they watched intently as I completely destroyed a lovely large tomato trying to achieve even one good slice. I made a note to self - always try out your new kitchen gadgets before you tell your company how great they are. Overall this is a great machine but like pretty much everything it has it's limitations. A sharp knife, well handled, will always produce better tomato slices.

Used and Dull
Mandoline appeared used, damaged box and scars on the plane. There were also marks on the upper plane from the julienne comb despite a guard being installed. The lever controlling the julienne was extremely loose, meaning you couldn’t reliably move the comb out of the way for plain slicing with adjusting the screw tension. I was ok with all of this but the blade and slicers were dull…. This kind of problem with product quality is recurring with Amazon purchases. I dropped prime a year ago and have been cautious about the things I order. I thought a Mandoline would be safe from the bs but apparently not. Recommend purchasing in store or through a proper vendor.

The Original for a reason, It just simply works!
After much research this was my first choice until actually using the de Buyer dicing mandoline form William and Sonoma. I knew I wanted a quality and versatile mandoline that would last for years to come as well as do the job with consistent results. I've used two other mandolines, the OXO mandoline and de Buyer dicing mandoline, this is the only one that will give consistent slicing thickness at 1mm or less thickness between slices as well as from one end to the other end of the slice (where most failed continually) It's not made clear on amazon.com but this particular Bron mandoline come with the 10mm and 3mm julienne blades. 2mm blades would be nice sometimes but cutting 3mm x 1mm yields a similar cut that is nice in its own right. You can always purchase the blade set with the 2mm and (8mm / 4.5mm) blades separately. This brings me to a fantastic attribute to this mandoline. If you somehow break something you can purchase every single part separately! The Good and great: It cuts perfectly at any thickness. The blades are super sharp. The guard a bit odd at first compared to the deBuyer but in the end superior in my opinion as the guard really transmits pushing power and isn't a hindrance at all. Blades are riveted in for strength. Its stainless steel where it counts. It doesn't need a non stick surface for the food to slide down because the polished SS is slicker than anything else. Julienne blades are fixed to the mandoline. All one piece so no cheap plastic blade holders to fall off as in the de Buyer dicing model. Separate blades fro crinkle and straight. Collapsible feet that fold neatly out of sight. It looks beautiful leaned against the wall on your countertop! The slightly less fortunate: The rubber on the feet slide more on some countertops than other models (either hold at the cross bar on the legs or sit on large wood cutting board) The guard doesn't work for the crinkle blade (buy the Microplane Cut-Resistant Glove for $10-15). Only comes with two julienne blades. Nothing is perfect generally but I do with the guard worked for the crinkle blade. I would have paid the extra for the additional SS required but the quality of the product out weights the few negative things. In the end if you are looking to spend more than fifty bucks on a mandoline spend the extra and get this. You will be able to give it to your grand kids some day! Note about Photo. The Amazon photo of this is slightly wrong. Guard is backward and the legs also fold out with the vertical support from the base of the legs to the top as pictured on many other websites.

Best mandoline you will find
We have about 4 of these at work so I HAD to get one for myself. It can be tricky to set up but if you just practice you will get it no problem. I love that you can change the thickness easily, or even shred vegetables effortlessly. I recommend getting those small bristle brushes to help get in the cracks and crevices when cleaning. Its safer than trying to stick your fingers in it. I also purchased handheld diamond file to sharpen if or when it gets dull. Ours at work are over 6 years old and i dont think theyve ever been sharpened. If you are looking for a reliable mandoline. Get this one! Its the best quality you will find compared to the other ones on amazon that look like plastic junk. The money for this is worth it!
