Brass is a copper alloy. An alloy is created from the combination of two or more metallic elements. Modern Brass is 67% copper and 33% zinc (roughly as most brass contains around 2% lead)

Q: Could you take it on the plane?

I don’t see why not, it’s brass alloy and has no really sharp edges, so you should be fine, but I’m not an expert.
