"In this gorgeous and important book, 'The Magic Is Inside You,' Author Cathy Domoney and illustrator Karen Davis provide the words and the visuals for something that all young children experience –positive and negative thoughts and emotions. Young children often do not have the language skills to express how they are feeling and this is where I always think a quality book comes into play. Books such as ‘The Magic Is Inside You,’ provide children with the words to express themselves and they shine a mirror on situations or emotions that they may be experiencing. Everyone wants to see their life reflected in literature – to know they are not alone, to know that someone else understands." A story that can be read again & again. What really makes this book stand out though is after the story ends the author has included a vast range of ideas & ways to support & encourage children with some excellent information & suggestions, which will help build on from the story. This is not a book to just read & put back on the shelf, it really does encourage everyone who reads it to find the happiness & confidence within themselves & people around them. Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 12 April 2021 Verified Purchase A very beautiful, powerful and deep meaning book. Me and my daughter went through this when it came and it was such an emotional but wonderful moment... what a perfect way to bond and to shed light on these issues and she keeps this book with her now and says that she wants to keep it forever... Parenting doesn't come with a manual and sometimes it is hard to understand that sometimes it is ok to be sad and this is how we deal with it.. I feel it adds a sense of security as well as enforcing that unconditional love, thank you x Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 9 February 2020 Verified Purchase We bought this because our child was struggling with negativity. This is such a wonderful book. The illustrations are gorgeous, and it helped give my child the words to talk about negative and positive thoughts. We've had a noticeable improvement in behaviour each time we've read this and talked it through together. Review: Great story to create confident kids - This is a great book and is significant for three reasons: 1) It is a wonderful story with beautiful illustrations, that children (and adults) can relate to and understand. Even my 15 year old who is keen to look forward to adulthood thought it was a worthwhile read. 2) Cathy Domoney has used simple therapeutic devices to help children build their ability to solve their own issues when they feel that their internal negative voice is getting the upper hand. The story can also be used as a great anchor for parents to subtly remind their children if they forget. As a trained Narrative Psychologist, I work in similar ways with adults. 3) Finally, Ms Domoney has given parents a wealth of great strategies at the rear of the book to help reinforce confidence, self-esteem, and self-reliance in children. These internalised concepts empower children to live happy and productive lives and empower parents by knowing they are contributing to their child's well being with simple steps. I thoroughly recommend this book as a great story and as a positive tool in kids' lives. Review: A must see for any child - A story beautifully illustrated and beautifully told. We all need to be reminded that the magic is within us, and it is especially important for children to grasp this empowering concept. Not only does the book make it easy for children to understand the idea of positive and affirming self-thought, but the author has also included many activities for parents and care-givers to enhance and expand the learning experience.

A powerful story of a much needed message for children on self-confidence.
The author Cathy Domoney has shared such a great, powerful and much needed message for kids who deal with lack of self confidence. The characters are brought to life. Cathy has done a phenomenal job dulling and drowning the negative voices children often dialogue with internally and bringing up the positive voices that requires encouragement and praise. The illustrations are lovely and this book is an easy and comprehensible read for children. The activities and suggestions Cathy has offered for adults to help children improve their self esteem is invaluable. I highly recommend this book.

A beautiful and impactful book!
This is a beautifully illustrated book that is perfect for opening up communication with kids on the power of their words and thoughts. The story is told in an empowering format that gives children the power to stand up to the negative thoughts that attack them. I love how the illustrator wove the words into the artwork in a way that flowed effortlessly with the story. A well done book in all aspects!

A charming story of how to listen to the right voice
Just as the title suggests, this lovely book explores the theme of self-talk - the good or the bad voice (or our private evaluation of our own performance) which goes on inside our minds. This story gives the main character, Madaleine the opportunity to choose between either one or the other, with the encouragement and support of her mother. The book's richly illustrated pictures and subtle story-telling melded perfectly to make a charming story of how to listen to the right voice. It's the sort of book too, that you'd want to pick up and re-read over and over.

High Recommend This Book for Kids and Adults!
Kudos to the author for writing such an empowering book for children! My 8 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The character has to wrestle with the negative and positive voices in her head (like we all do), so the story is relatable and I love the message she shares: trusting in yourself is the only way to find your true voice. I also appreciate that this book is real and lets the reader know that we all will always have that negative voice, but it is our choice if we want to listen to it or not. The illustrations are magical and creative and I am hoping the author writes more inspirational books like this for kids! The book also includes several activities and discussions to engage with your children which is so helpful. Great work Cathy Domoney! :)

Wonderful and practical!
Domoney's book is both a wonderfully inspirational story and also a practical guide for working with the children in your life to build confidence and self-esteem. I love how she introduces the idea that we have different "parts," and we have a choice which parts we will pay attention to. The back of the book is full of activities and discussion questions that help make the message of the book practical and impactful. Highly recommended!

A book which with beautiful illustrations - helping kids combat the inner critic!
The Magic is Inside You is a wonderful children's book which uncovers the truth about the little "companions" we all have inside us and gives wonderful advice for overcoming your inner critic, explaining what that is to children and giving them the tools to overcome it. The suggested exercises at the end of the book are pariticularly useful. The illustrations are gorgeous works of art on their own that definitely aid the story.

Beautiful illustrations and beautiful message
We all have the magic inside us to listen to our inner voices that uplift us rather than bring us down. This is a beautifully illustrated story of a young girls journey discovering how to do just that! It even comes with helpful tips at the end to help any child do just that!

Brilliant! So beautfully powerful x
What a lovely book, I read it to my step-daughter whose 6 years old and I have done so now 5 nights in a row because she keeps asking for it! In all honesty I read it properly the first time and then have tweaked/adjusted it every time after to discretely relate to her personal issues! Help her feel her "Maddy". Now she undertand's if she's feeling low or afraid it's Midge whose talking and how she has to learn to be kind to herself and be her own Maddy. I promise this will make sense when you read it! It is really cool and I'm so glad I bought this book. I gather it is a concept being brought into schools as well to empower children, I can see how it works.

Not enough text to read.
Book is good but i thought that this book would be good for my 10 years old daughter but it turned out that the book is good kids younger than 10 years old. It has more pictures than story.
