They don’t slide unless you actually move them. I like that fact as you can adjust them to fit your clothing!

No padding on clips bare metal. Really nice hangers. Does not damage fabrics.

how many pairs can they hold?

Each hanger is made to hold one item of clothing. I typically use these for pants or skirts. If the clothing items are made out of a thin fabric the hanger can probably hold two items.

3.25 inches from the top of hanger to the top of the hook.
