This game is a mix of the games UNO and Spoons all wrapped up in a dog lover addition! We enjoy Grandpa Beck games- especially Cover your Assets, Gnoming Around, and my personal favorite Skull King, but I admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of this one. But then my 6 year old, who doesn’t play games with us, actually played the game! That sold me! It’s a very easy game to learn and a fun way to teach them about matching colors, number, and images. The speed really depends on those that are playing but can get pretty fast when a certain card is set down. The game comes in a nice compact box and the cards are sturdy. The illustrations are beautiful and bright.

We have had this game for awhile now and recently started playing it. It has some similarities to UNO however, it is much more fun. There are different wild cards that have different results like all players must draw a card, you can trade hands with another player, player must play from the draw pile instead of their hand for one hand (all the wild cards explain how to use them at the bottom). These are all great but what is also great is you never have a player with tons of cards in their hands. My nine year old, my husband, and I all love this game. It is played fairly quickly and everyone has a fair chance at winning. My nine year old does get a bit carried away trying to slap the bone card when a mutt card is played. I have been known to have a red hand so be prepared for some competition, no one wants to draw a card if they're not the one to slap the bone card.

We have played this without all the special cards in order to make it a game all the family could play. The 5 year old liked it, but I think the older kids, 9 and 11 would appreciate the more interesting version with the special cards and actions, without them it's a bit like UNO. I can see the theme of it appealing a bit more to a dog-loving family.

This card game is very simple and fun. It is easily adaptable for the playing ability of different ages of children. We played it with an 8, 5 and 3 year-old. The 2 older kids learned really quickly and the 3 year old really only needed a little help. The 3 year old won , numerous times, without any help which he was really excited about! You should see the look on the kids faces when they were dealt a 'bone' card. Each round only takes 5 - 8 minutes so it is about the right length for short attention spans. Not only is it fun but it also helps the younger kids learn about numbers, colors and comparing the different types of dogs. We also like the Bears and the Bees card game from the same maker.

It's ok. Definitely doesn't have the charm and depth that Cover your Assets has, but this is essentially an uno cover with a different theme and added element. Not very engaging and doesn't hold enough merit to be considered for game nights.

This game is so much fun to play with the little ones! It is easily adaptable based on age. When I was playing this with a 5 year old and 3 year old, I took out the flea, bone, fire hydrant, and mutt cards. We played with the cards in front of us, and it made it much easier and still fun for both of them. When it was the 3 year olds turn, he needed some guidance on figuring out if he had a match, but they both love it. Going to get more of Grandpa Beck's games soon! Both kids are wondering if Grandpa Beck has all of the dogs in the game at his house. :)

Despite the fact we love to play this card game with our grandchildren, feel it is a little overpriced at $18CND for a deck of cards. Having said that, well illustrated and we especially liked the fact that you could play a simpler version for younger children and progress as they became accustomed to the game. Nice, new and fresh concept.

My son is 8 and loves dogs. We have played this as a family many times and all ages have fun. We especially like the Mutt card, as it generates a lot of excitement during game play. Highly recommend!

We have tried playing this game. It was complicated and we ended up setting it aside. Have not attempted to play it again. We are disappointed because the ad makes it sound simple. It stated the age range started at 7 years which seems to young. The design of the cards and storage box are very sturdy and will stand up well. Very cheery design. In our case we would have returned this game if we hadn’t opened it. Hope others find it easier than we did. I’m pretty sure it would be fun if the rules can be figured out. Shipping was great.

This is a very good quality card game for kids or adults; so far we have only done an old maid type game with them ie deal 3 hands out; put any matches in your hands down in front of you; and play pick n match with rotating turns until one person goes out they are the winner. There are more complicated rules for more complex rules of play should you decide to employ them; we have not done so yet as we are playing several other games in the same time frame but its definitely very cute; the kids love it, but they forgot the most BEAUTIFUL dog in the world the DOBERMAN PINSCHER!! I had 45 years of Dobermans!! the most beautiful fun athletic cuddly but effective guard dog in the world.
