MSI Does It Again!
I'm a laptop gamer, have been for over a decade. I've had Dell's rockin' XPS, I've had their less-than-satisfactory Alienware and when I needed a new laptop 6 years ago, I went with an MSI, due to the power at an incredible price. Think about that-- 6 years with the same gaming laptop. Ever since then, I've talked my daughter, her boyfriend, 3 of her friends, and two of my nephews into buying MSI and they all love them. I will never buy anything else. Now, to this review-- After 6 years, I needed a new gaming laptop so I bought this. Raytracing? Wasn't any hesitation. And it runs flawlessly! I'm running all of my games in Ultra mode and still getting a steady 60+ FPS. Here's a response to what other people have written: - Laptop is loud-- of course it's loud. That's because of the power inside. You're cramming the 3rd fastest video card on the market into an itty bitty chassis. So if you're complaining that it's loud, you simply don't get it. It's normal. - Low battery life-- It feels like the words "desktop replacement" have vanished from the PC gamer vernacular. It's not meant to run on battery. The battery is for if you suddenly have to move it, you can unplug it , move it, and plug it back in. Power goes out? Use the battery to sae your work, then turn it off. That's the whole idea. - The screen and video card are nothing short of amazing. 144mhz? Best screen I've ever used. No jaggies, no pauses, no split-screens. And the RTX card? MSI is one of the few companies that allows you to use the reference drivers directly from NVIDIA, and it's this reason that their laptops withstand the test of time. You get every update from nVidia, roughly one a week. New game comes out, nVidia writes it into their driver, you get it delivered to you. This is the main feature of the system. In contrast, Dell forces you to use their driver and rarely update it. Basically, the Alienware I bought was close to useless in less than a year. - Loud- yeah well, RTX card, lotsa fans running = loud. - heavy-- You're insane. This is one of the lightest gaming pc's on the market. - Sound-- okay, this one is legitimate. The sound is terrible, very tinny. But once I put my headset on, it sounds fantastic. So just figure on using headphones, which you're probably doing anyway to take advantage of spacial sound. - Space - yep, you're gonna need to get a second drive. So, people complain that the 512 gig ssd isn't enough to install a lot of games and they're right, but it's because they don't get it. The SSD should really be just for your OS and any read-write heavy apps. You'll need a second drive, probably a sshd or hdd and MSI, realizing this, has given us a second bay to install one. So quit whining. As you can see, I love my MSI and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Get one NOW.

Fantastic Gaming Laptop
Pros: -Great specs with enough power to throw most any 1080p/60fps gaming at max specs -Very nice screen, 144hz and pretty good brightness\color -Fans don't seem to run too loud (more below) -Nice form factor and aesthetics Cons: -Built in speakers are useless -A little more work to add a 2nd SSD than previously laptops I've owned Review: In short, I really love this laptop. I bought this mainly for 1080p\60fps gaming and video editing. My previous laptop handled video editing rather well too, but with the power of this I can edit and render 4k video at very good speeds, more than I need honestly. Since most of my side work with this requires fast turn arounds and very high video quality this works out very well. In terms of gaming, both gaming on my TV (at 1080p) and my ultrawide monitor (2560 x 1080) works flawlessly. In fact, for only a few modern titles with insane graphics did the fans kick on high and obvious signs of hard work happened. I have no doubt this can push pretty acceptable 4K gaming as well, but at the moment I don't have much interest in the higher resolutions. In the future that might change. Gaming on the built in screen is awesome, I get 144hz on almost all the games I play and it looks very, very good. I tried some RTX games and while some like Minecraft shows how the tech could change older games, in newer games I only noticed if I was trying to find differences. Again as the tech progresses I'm sure that will change too. I really like the look of this laptop and it feels "nice" in my hands. I know a few reviewers didn't like the USB ports so close to the front but personally I like having a few as close as possible when couch gaming. Another thing pointed out by some is the loudness of the fans, however I've had the opposite experience with mine. The fan barely needs to run, and when it does it doesn't even come close to as loud as my other gaming laptops have been. Finally the cons. The speakers are garbage. The sound is very low, and what little sound you can hear is canned and missing all the bass. Get some external speakers (there are even some you can clip on a laptop, I have those coming and will review those later) or headphones\headset. Adding a second SSD was a bit more work than I expected, lots of screws and needing more force than I felt comfortable to use to open. However, I am spoiled as the last 2 gaming laptops I've had used a single screwed bay to add extra storage and RAM. Final Thoughts: If you want a great laptop and don't want to deal with waiting for the whole RTX 30* issues happening to subside this is a nice choice for sure. I imagine this will hold me over for at least 3-4 years which is exactly what I as wanting.

Hotter than Texas in July!
I was originally looking for a decent gaming laptop, something I can bring with me and play while spending time with my loved ones. I never expected the sucker to be stronger than my desktop rig! Originally, I had planned on upgrading my desktop with the new nvidia 3000 series but now I'm content. Now for the juicy, seasoned, succulent details. Food remarks are weird for tech reviews, right? Wrong, because with the amount of power this bad boy has it'll cook anything in the way of those heat exhaust fans. Friends have told me, "there's now way that thing has a full rtx 2070 in there. It HAS to be throttled back." Wrong. The amount of heat this thing dishes out is enough to make my ever freezing, anemic girlfriend comfortably warm. That's saying a lot. Not so much as con as to be expected but just to point out the obvious, where shorts at the least or make sure there's some thick material between the Leopard and your skin. And gentlemen? Keep it away from your junk area. Now, for the reason it's putting out so much heat, starting from the top. Game 1: Hades. Supergiant's colorfully bombastic and wonderfully artistic game was the perfect warm up for the Leopard. With battery alone, it ran it decent but with a noticeable dip in performance while maintaining the high visual quality. But plug in that power supply and the heavens themselves seem to reach down and fill the Leopard with holy powers, purging the evil in all who gaze upon it. It's fantastic, the screen butter smooth at 144hz and making me laugh manically as I stared in awe at how well it performed. So, completely satisfied, I moved onto putting it through it's first REAL task. Game 2: Monster Hunter: World w/ Iceborne Was a little worried when it first loaded up and I noticed my character was slightly blurry, but that's just from the resolution scaling (I think) than anything else. Because going back to settings, I made sure everything was on high and/or max. Loading up into the Selliana gatthering hub, everything looked great, frames were smooth as Hades and the graphics were top notch. But let's be real, that wasn't pushing it to it's limits. Not really. I did what every Hunter does in their sacred quest of slaughtering innocent hulking beasts minding their own business. I travelled to the Ancient Forest and slayed the shit out some poor Great Jagras, all for the sake of limit testing. Everything was smooth, creatures in the distance flapped their wings without pixelating. My cloak trailed behind me casting shadows as I ran. The crisp outlines of the grass and leaves brushing against my skin or bobbing gently in the wind was when I realized that the power the Leopard has is beyond incredible. When that Jagras died on the shore, I thanked it for it's sacrifice for progress and exited my game for quiet contemplating. Monster Hunter is a poorly optimized game. It does NOT run well on most people computers, and certainly not 60 frames per second. The Leopard roared at the shitty engine implantation and forced the game itself to bend to it's will, forcing it run better than it had any right to. But, there's one more game I wanted to test, just in time too... Game 3: Baldur's Gate: 3 Wow. Just... wow. Character look fantastic, the moment to moment character interactions looked like cutscenes with the excellent amount of mo-cap and an extraordinary high quality voice acting. Even in Early Access, it looks fantastic and runs melted butter smooth. Except for when there's bugs and right now there's a lot of 'em, but no fault on the computer itself. I can't say anything bad about it, other than the speakers but c'mon, that's what headphones are for! They don't sound cheap or anything, just sound isn't as good without some bass and it's a laptop so don't expect a surround sound experience. Honestly, I just giggle and appreciate the fact that the LED lit keyboard is in itself a audio visualizer. Totally unneccessary features like that just goes to show how much fun this thing is and I haven't had my inner child squeal in such excitement since the day I bought my first 4k TV 3 years ago when it was on sale. Leopard > 4k TV Not much else to say after all that. If you have the money and were hesitating on whether it was worth the purchase price, I'll tell you they should be charging more and I wouldn't blame them. This has the power of something that should be almost $1700 or more, but you're getting a steal so strike while you can!

Great Quality to Price Ratio for Gaming
Context: I am a casual but enthusiastic gamer. I most frequently play Elder Scrolls Online (MMORPG), and I like to turn the graphics up as high as I can without causing the game to freeze. I'm coming from an HP Omen that's a couple years old. I considered offerings from Origin PC, but ultimately decided this was a better value. This is not a dedicated gaming rig. I use it for everything. IMO, this is a great gaming rig. Sub-$2k and has an RTX-2070? Great deal, and a nice step up from the GTX-1060 in my Omen (not a jab at Omen, I could have bought newer gear from HP instead of MSI). Playing ESO with the old Omen, I kept my graphics settings near the upper end of medium. The game would occasionally get freeze-y with a lot going on, but would be tolerable enough. The fans would howl every time I launched the game, and continue running like jet engines until I quit. I occasionally kept my game running in the background and open a web browser for a few minutes, at which point my GPU usage would jump from around 80% to pegged at 100%. With this machine, I've pegged my graphics settings in-game -- everything is set to its highest value (except particle suppression distance - it's at 75%). The GPU still pegs 100% if I also open a browser, but without the browser I hover between 65-78% GPU usage. I was expecting hurricane-force winds at these settings, but I barely even notice the fans. Graphics are quite noticeably improved, and the game has not yet lagged or frozen on me. Keyboard -- I like it. Soft but not mushy. Monitor -- not 4k, but a great monitor considering all else included at this price. Speakers -- garbage. Unless I've missed some important set up step that improves the output, these speakers are tinny and harsh. Sound quality through good earphones -- excellent. Nahimic is awesome. Data storage -- Subpar IMO, but again, at this price/hardware combo, definitely acceptable. I bought an SSD separately and plan to install it soon. Longevity -- no idea. I've had this machine for a couple days.

NOT JUST FOR GAMING! [Read about Nahimic Audio interfering with UserBenchmark GPU test]
I bought this laptop for photo/4K video editing and music production. The price for the specs is crazy. If it's good for gaming, it's good for anything else. Likes: POWER. Scores high on benchmarks. Is fast and snappy in real use. I connected it to my 49" Samsung Q70R and it ran Death Stranding in 4K on max settings at 70 FPS with DLSS set on Performance. Yes, with V-Sync on, smooth 4K60 is possible on this laptop without turning down eye candy if the game supports DLSS. Without DLSS, it obviously becomes a slideshow, since 3840 x 2160 is a crazy resolution for a modern game even with an RTX 2080 Ti. At 1080p with DLSS set on Quality, FPS get as high as 130s. Dislikes: SCREEN. The black levels are abysmal. It's the worst laptop screen I've ever owned. I thought my 2018 Acer Predator Helios 300 was bad. The screen is so thin, just touching the lid shifts the black levels to a greenish hue, and positioning it also causes a shift. The colors are nice, though, and in other than dark scenes, it looks decent. It's not very bright, but it's plenty for daylight use with a window behind. Oh, it came with no dead pixels or bright spots, so that's good! Viewing angles aren't impressive, especially for an IPS panel. I'm so unhappy with the screen, I would return the laptop if it wasn't for the high value, for how gorgeous it looks and how compact it is. Keyboard looks better than it feels. Keys are tight, but could use a more clickety feeling. I'm not into the RGB craze, but I have to admit the light show looks beautiful. My favorite config is Roulette. Mentioning RGB, I built a Ryzen 9 3900X system months ago and the CPU came with an RGB fan. I was annoyed by it at first, but once I changed the stock light show, I can now appreciate how my case is accented. If you're anti-RGB like I was, this MSI laptop has some civilized light schemes. It's not retina-burning lighting. Give it a chance. Battery is just OK for portability when using it for normal tasks. You don't get a powerful gaming laptop with a hexacore i7 10750H and full RTX 2070 to play unplugged from the wall. Makes no sense. Build quality and fit and finish is very nice. It's a budget gaming laptop, but this isn't budget-feeling at all. You just get a plastic case, not machined aluminum. Software-wise, it comes with a Norton antivirus trial, which I promptly deleted. All the other apps are non-intrusive. Whatever bloatware it came with doesn't stick out, but I uninstalled them. I also uninstalled all the MSI apps to rule out any potential funky business/performance issues. It's my first MSI laptop and I highly recommend it. I will revise this review if something bad comes up. I enclosed a few benchmark scores. This thing has a lot of power. It could replace a desktop/tower PC. EDIT - The first thing I did with it was download UserBenchmark just to see how it compared to my Acer Predator Helios 300. The speakers would make a loud popping sound on the Sphere GPU test, invalidating the benchmark and not yielding results. That never happened to me before with my other computers, and made me suspect that it was audio-related, so I stopped and disabled the Nahimic service, and also uninstalled the Nahimic app. That solved the issue and I finally got all my scores.

MSI GL65 is worth every penny for those who value it performance.
Where to begin. I have been using this laptop for about 7 months and I think it is worth of every penny spend on it and even more. I use my laptop daily, I work on it, do web searching, watch shows, but I mostly use it for gaming which is what this bad boy does best. I'm gonna divide my opinion on positives and negatives and then give a final conclusion. -Positives- -The 7th gen intel core and Rtx 2070 work amazing specially for heavy games, providing nice and flowing fps, I run big games like Battlefield, GTA, The Witcher, othes ehich require CPU like World of Warcraft, etc, and it has never let me down. -I really like how vivid colors are compared to other gaming laptops out there, most people won't notice or won't care but if you are one of those persons who like to watch TV shows on good quality screens or enjoy video games at it's best definitely this screen. -Thin screen, I love this; gives the laptop a modern, fresh looking appearance, some laptops look really bulky precisely because there is 1 inch of nothing on each side, making the laptop looking like a monitor from the 90's. -Nice looking keyboard, has many different combinations of colors and styles, I personally turn it down because I have always prefered nothing really, but it really helps if you need to type in a dark place. The keyboard is small but you will definitely get use to it (I hated laptop keyboards because how small they were, but now I love it) -Negatives- -I don't like were the usb ports are located, I think a better job could've been done. -I'm not really sure about this one but it kinda gets a little bit hot like a gaming laptops because there is not enough room for ventilation, therefore it's a bit noisy. However this could be fixed with a pair of headphones and putting something under the laptop to raise so it disipates heat. -Short battery life like 90 min on maximum performance or approximately 170min on battery saver, again this is a gaming laptop they have a short battery life, I keep mine plugged in during gaming and havy stuff so it is not really a problem for me, I knew my needs from the beginning. In conclusion if you are the type of person who cares more about performance than anything else this is an extremely good option, if you don't bother about battery life and can still work with 2 h 30 min at savings it might work for you. Again this laptop was designed for heavy stuff and to offer an extraordinary performance for the users eho value it. If you need a quite, not designed for gaming or heavy programs computter get a mac.

Another fantastic laptop from MSI
I bought this laptop a little over 3 months ago as a replacement for my ~4yr old MSI GE72 Apache Pro which, though still functional, needed an upgrade. I searched for laptop deals for about a month before finding this one, which blew my expectations for the price point out of the water, and it is quite a monster laptop with its GPU+CPU combo. My favorite small feature is the individually lit LED keys with the physical laptop button to customize/change it! Any negatives of this laptop do not bother me at all, which is why I am extremely happy with my purchase. Here's a short list of the main pros and cons of the laptop: ---------------------- CONS: * Short Battery life. Don't expect to use this laptop to any serious capacity without being plugged in; that's the main trade-off of gaming laptops. It still has the portability of a laptop, and I still can and have used it for a couple of hours at a time unplugged (after dark living with an off-grid solar power system), but this thing is a beast. It will not be able to perform at full power without being plugged in, but you're not going to be gaming on your lap with this thing anyway. * Subpar onboard speakers/microphone/webcam. The speakers on the laptop aren't great, and the microphone isn't anything special, but both are functional if you don't want to buy a mic or use headphones for a bit. Once again, though, if you're using a gaming laptop, you are probably going to have your accessories (headphones/headset, mic, mouse+mousepad), so it really only affects you if you plan on watching movies with this laptop without an external speaker. Though I think even having a webcam is nice, so the quality (iirc it's 720p) doesn't bother me much cause it's better than not having one. --------------------- PROS: * The best and most reliable laptop specs for the price point. This has an RTX 2070, beautiful 144hz 1080p low delay screen, i7-10750H CPU, 8GB RAM (which can be upgraded), and a 512GB SSD (which also can be upgraded). This thing works well on any game you throw at it, and it is only barely over-preformed by maxed out desktop setups and laptops that cost 1.5x-2x as much. I researched laptops for at least a month to try to find the best deal and not waste my money, and when I bought it on sale for $1400 upon release, it was literally an instant buy because of its specs alone. I have had no problems running games or Adobe programs on it. * Along with the last one, the screen is very nice. There isn't a thick border to the edge of the laptop, and it feels very sturdy at every point of rotation along the hinge. I came from a 17" MSI to this 15" one and thought it would be hard to go down in the screen size, but it wasn't at all; if anything, the laptop size is more convenient. * The cooling is pretty great. While monitoring the laptop temperature, I haven't had any noticeable overheating problems playing intensive games on a hot summer day, and if you think you need it, you can max out the fans with a physical button on the laptop. The fans are loud, but they don't bother me at all having headphones on. Things to the left side vent of the laptop do get a bit warm, but that's how you know the cooling system is working. * For me, the keyboard is quite satisfying in every way. It is nice to type on it, I like the font of the letters, it still has a numpad and arrow keys, and the LED key lights are mesmerizing. -----------

This things an A+ grade $3000 MONSTER with all the trimmings but for $1300.
MSI GL65 Leopard $3000 worth of gaming labtop for $1300. My I.T. Boss price quoted it at $2200 through his connection. So this is a great deal! This is A+ grade for that price. Heres a top tier gaming computer for a budget price. I actually bought 2 of them both with the 4 year insurance each. If I want to i can later add a 2 tb 2.5 hdd or ssd and 2x32gb Ram cards these babys will be golden computers for at least 5 years and i can have them to use now when i need them most. Ps. I ended ip putting 1tb ssd in them. That was all i needed. Way more power than expected! You wont find a better deal. I havent for over a year. This things an A+ grade MONSTER for $1300 My bosses quote on the same specs as this deal was 1800 min. Ive been waiting on it and its the right parts for the right price. The graphics card alone is $1000 Plus the special parts on these particular labtops is well worth it. The hd lossless sound is amazing, 144hz screen is fast amd responsive, aliminum lid is a nice touch, the per key programable rgb keyboard lighting and effects are rediculously cool and this super specially desighned and patented heat pipe system is the thing i love the most on this rig! The push keys near the power key to vent heat and turn both fans to full and another to switch between rgb key profiles on the built in steel key series is golden level luxury on a gaming laptop! I love it all! So much that i bought 2

Value Gaming Rig
So far, after a few weeks, this thing is a beast for gaming. I came from a 2012 MBP. First thing I noticed is the plastic casing, somewhat concerning but nevertheless it feels strong. The performance on this laptop is excellent for the money dished out. 2070 and new intel work great. 144hz screen is awesome for gaming.

INCREDIBLE COMPUTER AND INCREDIBLE PRICE
Ok, were do I start, i7 and 2070, I don’t think I need to say anything. Straight 144 frames all games. INCREDIBLE PRICE, I don’t know if you have seen the market for laptops right now but if you have $2500 AUD for a 2070 gaming laptop is cheep as, normally it’s like $3500 AUD. Nothing to be said, get it while you can
