. Review: First Taste of this Band = Brand New Fan!!! - Apparently I have alot of catching up to do in the female metal department. It's an area I totally ignored and that ignorance now seems unforgivable. But listening to this album will help me get over that. I first heard Maria's voice on 5FDP's new album, with the song Anywhere But Here. The 2nd version of the song, the one where she and Ivan perform it like a duet, is the one that got me interested in Maria Brink. Her presence really amplifies that song and my curiosity was peaked. I then started doing my homework and knew I had to get into this band. But where to start? Logic dictates at the beginning with their first album, but I decided to forego logic and go with instinct. I'm glad I did as I love this album and have been listening to it for a week straight as of this writing. I will of course get all thes rest of their albums at some point. I'm really drawn in by Maria's voice, she's like a hot, metal singing siren. She has a unique voice and is very talented, she can belt it out and scream with the best of them. I absolutely love Blood, Adrenalize, Whore, You're Gonna Listen, Burn, Beast Within, Comance and definitely don't have a song that I don't like on here. Haven't skipped anything in my week of listening yet and don't plan to. Great album, great sound, love Maria and can't wait to hear the earlier stuff to see how the band progressed to where they are now. Lesson well learned for me!!! Review: Blown AWAY! - I'm an old dude, who loves Rock music that's executed well and with a difference. I've heard a few of ITM's stuff on Sirius, liked it and took a chance on this album. Must have played it a dozen times over the weekend. Cant get enough of it. Maria has a voice and delivery that is out of this world, and her guitar player (sorry dude dont know your name yet, but I will!) is stellar! A perfect combo. If you like hard driving Rock, with an edge, and an edgy female singer - this is the band! Every song I kept saying, "Wow!" Like other female fronted bands, Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, Otep, StraightlIneStitch making waves and shaking up the Rock world, In This Moment stands right up there and perhaps above...they know how to get the job done, and done well. This is the stuff of legends...a true talent that would never be found on a reality talent show, but where its always found - on the road, in the garages, basements and warehouses and playing an endless tour of small gigs anywhere and anyplace...where the truly talented learn their way... I recommend this album to all women looking to idolize a female rock singer/performer - and for the guys who love to head bang, but are tired of the garbled lyrics and loss of melody in metal...but I mostly recommend it for FANS of hard Rock that leaves you wanting more...while wanting the whip to cut a little deeper... PS, best damn air-guitar album I've listened to in a long time!

Get the Blood pumping!
Do you want calm smoothing vocals and enjoy elevator music then this album is not for you. I'm not trying to dish on their earlier albums as there are some solid songs and strong vocals but this is the complete package. There is a line between pointless screaming and a scream that gets you out of your chair. This album is on par with Disturbed sickness. This is where I hope a trademark sound is born. If you want a sooth Amy Lee from Evanescence's this is not it. A friend asked "That was a woman?" YES! The band has been through a continuous transition and per the editorial review this one is darker and more gritty. The lyrics are a rougher tone of Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. They may be inappropriate for young woman but life is rough sometimes and this album brings it out. Bottom line this is Disturbed meets Evanescence and Alanis Morissette. If you want a touchie feelie album get the Smurfs sound track. Want the Best Real Rock Album of the year hit play. Is it Dark? Yes! Does it scream? Hell YES! Will you play it over and over? Yes! Yes! Yes! Its not your 70s and 80's Rock this is music embedded with passion. Their other music, if you this album then try A Star-Crossed Wasteland maybe Beautiful Tragedy but The Dream is missing some of the passion in this album.

This band has a new fan.
I am 45, and listen to the major metal artists out there, old and new. Judas Priest, Metallica, Pantera, Sevendust, Anthrax, Accept, Volbeat. I purchased a new Album by Red Dragon Cartel (Jake E. Lee - former Ozzy Guitarist) and he has a few songs with "guest vocalists". One of the guests was Maria Brink. I had never heard her sing, nor heard of the band 'In This Moment'. I was amazed with her voice. This album is terrific and unique. Every track is good. Her range is impressive, and the music is "chunky" with some great bass. Glad I found them by chance.

Not their best but very good, nonetheless
Having listened to, and enjoyed all of ITM's albums I quickly grabbed this once it came out. From the opener "Rise With Me" you get the feeling of a stage being set for a release of energy, the whisper before the scream if you will. Blood, the title track, jumps up and startles you with a dark view of a relationship gone wrong, with expectations not met. Adrenalize and Whore shock you with both demanding and submissive physical desire. Listening to the songs you almost have to consider them companion pieces. The verses in It Is Written is a calm explaination of the hate unleashed in the chorus. Burn is painful in it's sorrow and lovely in the statement of rebirth, with the focus being the ressurection and new life rather than dwelling on the past, regardless of the pain. On and on, this is an album that realizes the pain of life but doesn't wallow in it, rather looks for something more beyond that experience. The entire album seems to say "Remember the pain and rise up, above it, and live and be alive!!!"

This album gets a big YES from me. I only give 5 stars when something special comes along, and here it is. It's true that In This Moment have progressed to a heavier sound than on the first 2 albums, but they are all the better for it. In my opinion this is not just an album of tracks as another reviewer has said. I'm sure it is a Vampire concept album. With many concept albums there always seems to be filler tracks to go along with the story. Not the case here, all the tracks are very good, and there is a darker feel to the whole album compared to the earlier ones. The short intro tracks add to the atmosphere of the whole concept and the last track 11 - 11 rounds it off nicely. Maria Brinks vocals in my opinion have improved, and there are some awesome BLOOD curdling screams and growls going on, just check out the track 'Burn' if you don't believe me. Best tracks (for me) are: Blood Burn Form The Ashes Comanche O.K Now go buy it, and play it to death like I have. P.S Nothing like Pantera with a female vocalist.
