The Astonishing Power of Emotions: Let Your Feelings Be Your Guide

SUMMARY With the help of Abraham, a collective group of higher beings who channel their thoughts to Esther, Esther and Jerry Hicks have created another spiritual masterpiece. For those of you who somehow might have missed it, the Hick's first book, ASK AND IT IS GIVEN, started the Law of Attraction movement. It's one of the top 10 spiritual books you must read. The Hick's newest work and this review subject, THE ASTONISHING POWER OF EMOTIONS, teaches how to quickly and easily achieve emotional relief from worries, judgments and other bad feelings. The trick is simple, easy, and doable: just reach for a more uplifting thought about what's going on. The thought doesn't have to be perfectly crafted, spiritually-oriented, religious or complex - just a slightly more elevated thought. Practical, concrete examples of how to do this are provided. The ASTONISHING POWER OF EMOTIONS should be required reading for every Earthling who's angry, guilty, depressed or stuck in a rut, which is pretty much all of us. MESSAGE OF LOVE/HARMLESSNESS: "Pure, positive energy" exists, is real and is vast. Your Inner Being (soul, spirit, God-self) is an extension of this energy. The only way to feel good in every moment is to align with this energy that is your Truth. When you do the work of making yourself feel better, it indicates that a change has occurred, and that's really all you have to do. INSPIRATION: In many religious and spiritual circles, personal desires and getting your own sweet way has a very, very bad name. Wanting something is viewed as the ultimate source of suffering, as selfishness that derives from the ego, or as an inconvenient frustration that's never satisfied. Luckily for us, the Hicks and Abraham give us a more enlightened perspective about desire. The bottom line is that our personal life experience results in the expansion of the universe, and this expansion comes about through our newly discovered preferences about how our life can be improved. "Desire is born out of the contrast you are living...for during that process of knowing what you do not want, the clear, expanded idea of what you prefer instead is born." When a desire is born, we either align with it (the art of allowing) or we resist it. The choice to allow or resist our desires to manifest is what this book is about. Your desires create a kind of current or "stream of life" experiences. Most of us are stuck in the trap of having desires and then blocking them with all our might by paddling against the stream. NOTHING THAT WE WANT IS UPSTREAM. "Everything that you have ever asked for is downstream, where you can easily find it, experience it, possess it, or live it. The Hicks and Abraham tell us to relax into our inevitable legacy. The fastest way to do this is to think of the current or stream as an emotional vibration. We only have to develop one skill: Identifying whether or not the emotion we are having feels good. If it doesn't, you are resisting and paddling against stream. The art of allowing "is the conscious, gentle guiding of your thoughts in the general direction of the things that you desire." RELEVANCE/PRACTICALITY: Everyone suffers from resistance, which is why everyone will benefit from the 33 examples for releasing resistance. Topics include receiving a scary health diagnosis, divorce, disrespectful children, a gay son, people who lie about you, inability to lose weight, getting passed over for a promotion and more. Each example should be read and savored to learn how to let go of the oars and float to the life experience we have imagined for ourselves. ORGANIZATION/READABILITY: The first part of this book explains the concepts of resistance, allowing and emotional/vibrational alignment with Self. The second part shows how to put the concepts into action to feel better about the real-life problems we deal with. It's easy to read, follow and understand. Neutral God terminologies are used that will be acceptable to people of every religion or no religion.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you - Abraham, Jerry and Esther. There are no words that I can express that would fully articulate the gratitude I feel for discovering the works of Abraham-Hicks teachings, which was first unveiled to me by way of the book and movie "The Secret". Their works have opened up a tightly closed flood gate unleashing the joyful freedom of the water that is just rushing through every part of my being. It is nice to be alive and well. Soon with a little practice and reconditioning it will be magnificent. I believe their words and the powerful wisdom behind their words will place you on the path of self awareness, truth, and empowerment. It will have you looking from the inside-out versus the outside-in. It will rock your world and evolve your thinking in profound ways. For the first time in your life, after experiencing a bit of discomfort, maybe even some sadness about the unpleasant time wasted and strong negative emotion about yourself, you will feel extreme clarity - many ah-ha now I get it moments)- freedom within and peace of mind in the knowing and letting go of all that stuff that drags you down, down, down so you can begin a new chapter in the art of living, knowing, experiencing and receiving more of the good stuff you so badly want to bring into your life. I would highly recommend this book to all that are struggling and grappling with emotional discord and haunted thoughts that keep them from living a healthy, fulfilling, rewarding, rich life. I do think you would get something wonderful and valuable out of this reading without any prior exposure to earlier Abraham-Hicks teachings; however I will acknowledge that it was very helpful for me to have some prior knowledge, a basic understanding and introduction, of their teachings before delving into this particular reading for me to truly comprehend and get the most out of the messages expressed in this book. Therefore, I would recommend reading at least one of their earlier works such as "Ask & It Is Given" and/or the "Law of Attraction" first. It will only enhance your appreciation of what you are receiving from "The Astonishing Power of Emotions". Also, I would like to add that I have bought many self-healing, self-enhancement and professional clinical/research based books in the past in pursuit of my wanting to lead a better more purposeful life than what I was experiencing, but no other has spoke to me in a natural, fluid, commonsensical kind of way or has connected and renewed my spirit like the Abraham-Hicks books did and still do. Needless to say, all other books have been recycled and donated with the hope they will be of value to someone else, but for me the Abraham-Hicks Teachings are the rocket launchers that set me straight and in the direction I so desperately want to go. They gloriously sit in my home library just waiting to be referenced time and time again and shared with another if they so choose. Unleash your power from within forever more - live in hope, joy and abundance!

In my opinion, this is the best articulation of the Abraham message written thus far. The opening chapters are succinct and offer the inspiring teachings in a nutshell, that our thoughts consist of vibration and we attract like vibrations into our reality. The vibrant message of this book is that our emotions are our best indicators and serve to help us measure our alignment to our "inner" self and the rockets of desire we have chosen. The process of choosing to focus on a particular outcome is what brings that outcome to fruition. This book is the attempt to educate people to what they can do in order to "move upstream" and to allow themselves to line up with those more positive outcomes. The included CD is a sample of Esther speaking as Abraham and the work she does as she and her husband Jerry travel across the country to do their day-long seminars. If you are at all interested in hearing the Abraham message, I would encourage you to buy the book and listen to the CD. The Abraham message has added much to my life and I believe it can do the same for others. I think it fits well with Christian teachings (or those of any religion) as an adjunct to the idea that God is within each of us. The information presented is an attempt to help us understand that we create our own lives through the projection of our vibrational thoughts; as outward physical manifestations of the perceptions eminating from our own core belief systems. I find the message extremely uplifting and have therefore concluded it must come from a positive source. As I trust in my own ability to recognize truth, and believe others have the ability to do the same, I assure anyone looking to find deeper meaning in their lives has nothing to fear by simply investigating the potentially life-altering information contained in this book.

I believe this is the single most influential book I have ever read. This is my third copy of it, because i already gave two away to close friends. What makes it so great is: it not only explains the law of attraction in very practical terms, it gives easy, step-by-step instructions on HOW to use your thoughts (cognitive therapy-style) to adjust your emotions to where you want them. It doesn’t stop at saying “better stay happy or else!” It shows how to gradually, in a few minutes’ time, bring your thoughts around to work for you. This book also explains what to do when you notice you are thinking something negative/undesirable. Don’t just be scared of what you have done! Don‘t just paste a fake smile onto your face and pretend to be happy! Instead: think of what you do want and then start incrementally moving your thoughts in that direction. This book also provides a way to understand the meaning of “signs” that may show up for me (or you!): if the feeling your thoughts are giving you feel good, that’s correct! If the feeling is bad, that’s the wrong interpretation, so keep feeling around for some thoughts that feels better. Phew! If you just can’t think of anything, you can always go to: well, all in good time, and imagine any lovely experience you already know. Or just do a gratitude! Even if the law if attraction turns out to be complete bunkum (which is not my opinion, but even if), following these principles will give a better experience of every moment in which they are practiced, so that is as real as it gets!

This book has helped me so much. I've always been so trapped by resentments, fear, doubt, etc. Even though I have grown and overcome so much of that, there were certain relationships and patterns in my life that I still struggled with and didn't see a solution to. It's only been about a week since I started the book, but I feel a different energy. To be able to rise above resentment and fear is freeing. This book came along at the perfect time, I was really ready for it. The book makes an analogy of a river/flow/stream that each of us is in, our path in life. When we are flowing *with* the stream, we flow toward our desires. When we try to row *against* the current (trying too hard, being fearful, focusing/obsessing on what we *don't* want, being motivated by fear), even though it feels like the "right" thing, we are headed away from what we desire. It talks about the "Law of Attraction," but the main point of the book is how to *allow* good/positive things to come to you. It is repetitive in some ways, but that works for me, because when there is a new concept I need to absorb, repetition helps to reprogram my mind. It gives many examples of life situations in the form of a question/situation paragraph, then a chapter of response. I highly recommend the book. If you want to read some excerpts, go to the Abraham-Hicks website and read some examples. If they resonate with you, then I recommend buying the book. I liked the examples I read on the website, but it was reading the book, with the repetition and many life examples that helped me make a shift.

As most people who read self-help books, for many years I am a sufferer of anxiety and fear. Sometimes, my fear comes to be panic. I trace back these fears to the education I suffered in childhood and which, among other mistakes, made me believe in a God who is more ready to punish us than to allow us to be happy. For example, God gave us the sexual pleasure, but the Church makes us believe that this pleasure, out of wedlock, is a mortal sin and condemns us eternally to hell. If our father was authoritarian and severe a person, it's no wonder that we believe that our father in heaven is alike, with far more power to punish our faults. And it is no use telling us, at the same time, that both parents love us and that the punishment is for our good. The fear was introduced to always, in our credulous minds and hearts . The basic belief that we are sinners, guilty and not worthy of a happy life is rooted in us, for the benefit of the authors of self-help books and to our unhappiness. As I was reflecting on my fears and anxieties and reading books that could help me overcome them, I began to realize that everything depends on our thoughts and the emotions that are associated with them. What many of these books tell us is to have positive thoughts. But I found out that there is no positive thinking without the negative thinking. Our mind is dual: when we think of "day", that thought brings the thought "night"; When we think of "life", we also think "death". Which of the opposing thoughts will be predominant in our mind? Depends on the beliefs that are stored in us. In my case, as one of my core beliefs is that I am a sinner who deserves to be punished, the thought "death" has more power than the thought "life", because it is in accordance with my belief. Later, and after having read a few more tens of books, I realized the concept of "resistance". I realized that trying to impose, by force, a positive thinking against the negative thinking, which made me feel anxious, had as a result give even more power to negative thinking. In the war between what I want and what I feel (what I believe), the winner is always what I feel. So, try to change my negative thoughts, opposing them with positive thoughts, is resisting negative thoughts and this resistance is precisely what feeds negativity. So if resistance isn't the solution, what to do? While I was going through these dark emotional experiences, with fear as the dominant factor, also had wonderful experiences, what I call " eye winks" of God ", as if God wanted to tell me that I'm never alone and that He is not how I was taught. These experiences are what the authors call "synchronicities". I will tell one of the most stunning. In 1971, I was on a beach in Africa with my wife and a 2 year old daughter. On that day, the beach was deserted. The closest one was over 500 feet away. I felt absolutely at peace with myself. I love the sea and the day was splendid. Then came to my mind the thought that that paradise was about to end. The vacation would end the next day, because we had no money to go on. Without losing my peaceful and happy state of mind, I asked my wife how much money would be needed to stay one more week and she said it would take a lot of money - about 500 dolars. Indeed a lot of money in 1971! Relaxed, I stretched my arms back and buried my fingers in the sand. I felt something touching my fingers of the left hand. I grabbed it and ... It was a 500 bill folded in four, buried in the sand, right behind me. Out of the blue (or rather the sand) was there exactly the money we needed to stay an extra week in that paradise. Neither more nor less! In the year that I had this experience, I had never heard of.Law of Attraction, positive thinking, visualization, Silva Mind Crontol, the power of now, power energy, quanta, manifesting desires, etc. What happened was totally spontaneous. And I had many other identical experiences, of which much later-and thanks to some books that I have read-I got an important conclusion: whenever I'm quiet, without wanting it to happen something, without worry for not having what I would prefer to have, without making any effort to have that thing, I get it. This has already happened to me dozens of times. This means that all the practices and techniques I have learned in these self-help books are wrong? In other words, any technique is a form of resistance? And the secret is to accept rather than resist? But what exactly is to accept? And what has this to do with the fear, stress and anxiety? Some of the books I read gave me a glimpse of what is acceptance. To accept is to be attentive to what is happening in me and outside me. If I'm afraid, acceptance is to see this fear in me. Is to observe the fear, rather than react to it. That way, I don't add any thought to fear; I only notice. I can assure you that, when I do this, the fear will go away after a few moments. Why? The answer is a surprising discovery that I don't remember seeing reported in any book. I discovered that fear is ... the fear of being afraid! We do not are afraid of this or that-God, the devil, death, disease, misery, flying, etc. We are afraid of being afraid, period. And, so, when we give our attention to the fear that we are feeling rather than trying to avoid it-and we accept it as we accept the wind in the trees, what we are doing is not being afraid of being afraid. And, if we are not afraid of being afraid, then we have no fear at all.

I'm one of those "New Age" types who's read countless self-help and spiritual books, attended many seminars, and absorbed dozens and dozens of CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and so on. In short, I'm a "seeker". So I feel confident in saying that the informaiton that Abraham has been giving out over the last 20 years is among the very best available in English. Clear, practical, and worldly guidance is founded on the most remarkable esoteric wisdom. Abraham opens my eyes and refreshes my mind like almost no other source. "The Astonishing Power of Emotions" is a fine entry in the series of Abraham's teachings. A few short chapters up front lay out the "big ideas" that underlie most of their work, and the rest of the book devotes a short, specific section to each of twenty or so of life's most distressing problems. Health issues, weight loss issues, trouble with kids, spouses, friends, business partners; money concerns; loss and grief; job and career difficulties. The advice is consistent, postive, uplifting and practical. All of the suggestions would be easy and simple for most everyone to follow, and I think apply to a wide range of people. I found value in every section, even those devoted to problems that have never entered my life. I keep reading passages to friends and family--it's one of those books that I'd like to share with everyone I love. My favorite statement from the book, and one of its core concepts, is "Nothing that you want is upstream." I'm making it my life's motto.

i really enjoyed the stories and how going downstream helps you feel better about yourself and the situation. Feeling better is the answer for getting what you want

I have listened to Abraham Hicks recordings and read about the processes the recommend for a few tears now. This book however, clarifies so much of what I already know to be true. If you are ready to enjoy peace, ease and love its a must read.

You are the extension of the Source, Non-physical Energy. というところにとても癒されました。DownstreamとかJust let go of the oarsとか、読んでいくだけで、エイブラハムが教えてくれようとしているライトでeasyな波動の感覚をダイレクトに感じることができます（実感がないときでさえも感じているんです）。I really appreciate Abraham, Esther and Jerry! Thank you for coming in my life!

This book gives much deeper going explanations in how to actually practice and live the "Law of attraction", then any others I ever read. As the authors write, the "Secret" (based on their Abraham-channellings)has remained a secret so far, as the most important word "vibrations" was cut out of the context. Step by step it is explained how to increase your vibrations and by improving slowly your feelings also attract the improvement of your life conditions. By giving many different examples with the different suggestions for how to think in detail in these cases, it was very easy to copy these methods to my own life. Although at first sight some of the stated problems would not seem to apply to my own experiences, at the end I always found them quite helpful for my life as well. And I can assure you that IT WORKS IMMEDIATELY. I can only strongly recommend this book to everyone who wants to learn how to use the "Law of attraction"! I also find the CD (exerpt of an "Art of Allowing Workshop") particularely helpful and supporting!

Es un buen libro que te saca de muchas preguntas. Es fácil de comprender. Si has visto un curso de Milagros o conversaciones con Dios, entonces te va a gustar. Es el mismo tema central .

I got this book with the law of attraction book of Abraham as my birthday gift in 2024. Abraham is amazing ❤
