Is the Picatinny mount removable if I want to use a different mount in the future? Thanks...

Yes, the mounts are easily removable.I am quite happy with my Burris ff3. I actually purchased a second, of the same ff3, for my AR-15.The first, is on my 10-22.They are very small/low profile. All metal. Also, everything can be adjusted and batteries replaced, without removing the site.I am happy with both of my ff3s.

can the picatinny mount on this red dot be removed so it can be mounted on the burris fast fire mounting plate for a glock?

Yes, in fact it comes in the box seperated

Just checking. Is 8 MOA preferred for closer defense target acquisition than 3 MOA?

At a "typical" combat distance of 7 yards, an 8 MOA dot will cover just slightly more than a 1/2 of an inch area. A 3MOA dot will cover about 1/5 of an inch.
