Very fine leaf size so it's ideal for smaller infusers in which leaf tea might not work. Due to the fine leaf size it brews fast and strong so great for a quick morning brew but he prepared for some dust in the pot or cup. I used 5g to 400ml of boiling water brewed for 2 mins and it was strong and full of flavour but not at all bitter.

No micro plastic to worry about & NOT teas dust!

A strong leaf tea from a good company, have been using the tea bags for some time, which are very good.

Excellent flavour

I am editing this review as I feel my initial review is now unfair. Original - Firstly, I ordered this by mistake. I thought I was ordering decaffeinated tea but after delivery discovered I had actually ordered caffeinated by mistake. I tried to arrange a return but was told it was not possible to return this product. I could not find any reference to the fact that it was not possible to return this product on the website. Rather than throw the tea away I decided to use it for my early morning cup of tea which is my only caffeinated drink of the day. Loose leaf is a bit of a misnomer. More like dust - see photos. When making tea just for myself I use a glass pot with an integral infuser. Much of the dust washes through the very fine mesh. So far as taste goes, that is a very individual thing. Edit: I have found that through my waste not want not practice I have come to really like the tea and am now hoping to buy more. Original review from here on now no longer applies but I feel it would be disingenuous to delete it as others will have already read it in its original form. - Suffice it to say that I will not be buying any more. It is possible to buy decaffeinated tea from the same seller but I won't be ordering that either. There are other teas that I prefer the taste of. Sadly, most of them come in bags but as these are now biodegradable they will go into the compost and end up on the garden so not a total disaster.

Please Note: They mixed reviews from different tea varieties on this page. Having drunk their teabags in a hotel I was looking forward for the taste. However, the loose leaf tea taste oddly flat, one dimensional and quite weak. I'm uses to M&S Gold and must admit that this tea is nowhere near as intense or structured. I fail to understand why is it so flat. I will try and use more tea but I was quite dissapointed. Its drinkable and better than some cheap blends but truly, nowhere close to other more basic brands.

I like Birchall tea and buy their tea bags. I prefer loose leaf tea and ordered this. Sadly, the tea is so fine it is like tea dust. I remember working with the Tea Council and they said many tea farms will sell this tea dust for tea bags. So it was disappointing to open this pack and see it. At this price I persevered and used it but always had a spoon full of tea leaf bits at the bottom of the mug. I liked the flavour - strong and dark. After a week or so I tipped it on my veg patch because it was just so messy - and I use the other Birchall loose tea which has a much bigger leaf to make a much more pleasant brew.

The tea, whether full or de-caff is SO good. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Buy and enjoy it!! you will be glad you did
