Great quality. Easy to use.
I love the mechanical pencil aspect of it. It is perfect for marking on dark fabrics. And it is great for felt. It is a great tool for my workbook. Love it. Solves a lot of problems I was having.

Great for sketching on dark paper!
Itโs the perfect white pencil and itโs great for sketching or drawing on dark paper!! Itโs got the convenience of a mechanical pencil and can easily be erased. It comes with extra lead. I just wish it also came with an extra eraser as well.

It works
This pencil works as it is supposed to. It is easy to draw a straight line with it with one stroke which is easy to remove from the fabric once you are finished with it. It is white, so it only works on dark fabrics. I wouldn't mind a medium color to work on light fabrics, but I haven't gone looking for it. Quilters have a problem. Frequently we need to mark the quilt, but most markers have a down side. As far as I can tell the only down side here is that white doesn't show up too well on white fabric.

works great wish there was more colors of lead to choose from.
As far as I know there is only the white chalk lead, great for dark fabric. Wish there was more colors, needed for light fabric.

Great smooth, opaque, white, quilting mechanical pencil!
I have a Fons and Porter white mechanical pencil from a LONG time ago and needed refills but wasn't sure what size lead refills, if they had changed sizes. I couldn't find any under that brand name alone. But in my search, I found this new pencil by Dritz AND Fons & Porter, which I've not seen the two brands like this before. I decided if I just got a new one then I'd know what I need when it's time to refill. What I found is that they're interchangeable but I'm glad I got it any way. I was worried the lead would be crumbly but it isn't. It's smooth and the white shows up very clearly. It doesn't chip when I trace around a quilting template. The mechanics are nice and smooth. The lead is the perfect thickness. It isn't too bold or too fine. It's just right. It's a nice, sturdy pencil for quilting and I will buy the refills when needed and would also try the other colors of lead for different shades of fabric.

How did I go without before?
This is one of those items you canโt go without once you try it. I have been sewing for many, many years and honestly donโt remember how I got away marking on dark fabrics before. I think I just stuck it out with looking for very faint pencil lines, because I have never liked using those ubiquitous square chalk markers. I really like my markings to be precise, (for bag making in particular) and the thin pencil lead allows me to do just that. I really hope that I will be able to purchase the refills for this pencil once I run out, which from reading some reviews back when I purchased this, seem to not be that readily available. Keeping my fingers crossed, as the lead does wear rather quickly, especially when drawing long lines across fabric like I often do.

My new best friend in the sewing room!
I have tried many different fabric markers for dark fabrics and I wish I would have tried this sooner. I've been using Bohin white ceramic marker for a couple years but the mechanism that pushes the "lead" out finally broke and I thought I'd try the F&P for a change. It's like night and day. The Bohin takes pressure get a good mark or repeated drawing of line and often the ceramic "lead" breaks. Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I the F&P White Mechanical gave me a great line with no more pressure than I would use while using a normal lead pencil on paper. Makes a nice fine line with no chalky or waxy feel. Comes off easily by brushing and a little water will remove a thicker/heavier line quickly. Can't say enough good things about this marker.

Great on black quilting cotton.
I've been making masks with black cotton for my co-workers to wear in uniform, and this little pencil is fantastic. It writes on black so easily. I can't speak to how easy it is to remove because I don't remove it. I simply use it on the wrong sides of the fabric so it's facing in and never seen. This really made my life so much easier though because of how much more precise it is than chalk (or crayon, as I also tried).

Excellent!! Super fine
I bought this to transfer patterns on the dark material that I hand embroider, and I have not been disappointed at all. I use a light table and the pencil goes on easily and makes fine lines which I need. Also seems to be holding up well and not disappearing before Iโm finished my work. ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
