It is difficult, nearly impossible to get real heather honey and that is a real shame because this is in Sheraton & Alexander's book, "1,000 foods to eat before you die." Opening this jar filled my nose with an incredible perfume. It has an almost indescribable body with a very thick texture,a rich blended flavor that requires small, careful tastes to really enjoy the punch. Single-cut honey is hard enough to find no matter where you live, but this is well worth the hunt. I try not to sound like a gibberer, but honestly, I do not find my expectations exceeded often. I initially hunted this jar down out of curiosity and now I feel like I have a glass jar that comprises all of Scotland, distilled. Many people use this honey for medicinal purposes, claiming it equates Manuka honey, but I won't be trying that out, curious as I am. I will be putting this to work in far more indulgent projects involving my kitchen and fresh bread. If a larger jar emerges, I will be buying it even if I have go back to Meatless Mondays to afford it.

I wanted some Scottish honey for my Burns Night Cranachan, so bought this. It's so yummy. A bit pricey for the size but so worth it, IMO.

Excellent flavor and, while pricey for a very small quantity, it's still 1/3 the cost of the best Manuka honey, and is said to have similar healing effectiveness. I only gave 4 stars because I really couldn't use it for intended therapeutic properties. I have an aggravating non-healing pressure ulcer on my upper inner thigh and was hoping to use this thick heather honey which would stick in place without a bandage (it's an impossible-to-bandage area). Unfortunately, body heat between the legs causes the honey to melt and run down my legs. Idk if a bandage could help, but I doubt it and as I said, that area cannot be covered by gauze or whatever which would stay in place. -- So I had melted honey running down my inner thigh and making a sticky mess on my nightgown, etc, and I was afraid, egad, this is going to attract ants to my bed! So my therapeutic hopes were dashed. Too bad. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful LUXURIOUS gourmet honey to put in tea!

Good stuff, support small farms

This is just ok honey. Definitely does not taste like the heather honey I had many times while in Europe. Or like the heather honey I found in Florida that was imported from Portugal. This honey is too sweet, does not have the perfume or the flavor associated with pure heather honey. The color is also too light to be pure heather honey. Maybe the bees got their flowers mixed up :-) The honey I received certainly does not fit the description of the raving review written in 2016 which was also the review that convinced me that this was true heather honey. I’ll just use it to sweeten tea; pretty disappointing.

This honey was about halfway turned to sugar when it arrived. There were two very small jars. One stack of 4 frozen waffles about 3-4 inches diameter took one full jar to get enough honey for the waffles. If you are a honey lover as I am, use your money to buy a larger jar of Clover or Orange Blossom Honey. This honey was not as tasty as Orange Blossom or Clover Honey and it was much more expensive. I will not be conned into buying this Heather Hills Scottish Honey again .
