The Software Tools can be found here - 8020curve.com Review: Read This Book Before Your Competitors Do - The title of this book grabbed my attention as soon as I saw it. The reason is that I read Richard Koch's book 'The 80/20 Principle' back in the late '90s when it was first published. Although the book by Mr. Koch intrigued me, I didn't figure out how to take its theories and put them into practical and profitable use. After reading Perry Marshall's book, I realize what the problem was. I'm a person who needs to see "the forest before the trees"; to get a clear view of the big picture before seeing how to chunk down into details. This is especially true within the confusing and cluttered worlds of sales and marketing. That's what this book by Perry Marshall can do for you. It can give you that "aha moment" - the one in which you realize someone's given you a clear path to grow any enterprise and the only thing that could stand in your way is your own possible unwillingness to use discipline in staying on that path. There's a diagram on page 86 that clarifies everything so much for me - gives me that view of the forest - that I just want to refer to it whenever I might feel overwhelmed by sales and marketing information. On that note, the whole book is written and formatted in a very readable manner. The chapters are short, concise, and to-the-point. And even though the book is an obvious marketing piece for Mr. Marshall's bigger products and services (as most non-fiction is), you'll be happy with its stand-alone value. You'll likely feel as I do - that you have a clear choice to go on learning more from the author or you can take the terrific info he's provided here and on his website to figure the rest out for yourself. That's refreshing. Obviously, I'm really happy I've read this book. It's marked up with highlighter at this point. I'm sure I'll refer to it again and again. It'll likely be marked further with underlines and margin notes. Perry Marshall's taken the mystery and hard work out of deciphering the practicality of Richard Koch's work. I highly recommend it - unless you happen to be one of my direct competitors ("Haha"). Review: Hate Math, but LOVE This Book! Truly Life-Changing. - I don't think I could gush over this book any more than the previous 60+ reviewers have done. Suffice to say I agree with all of them. So, I'll focus more on pointers for getting the most out of this book, especially for fellow "math-has-always-sucked-for-me" people... First, you must read this book. Period. It is an easy read...very accessible, short chapters, and actually quite entertaining. Most importantly, it will revolutionize your thinking about everything; it will especially open your eyes to the personal power *you* have to make your work infinitely more effective. Second, apply 80/20 to the content of the book; focus on one suggestion that stood out to you the most. Maybe it's simply a tip that seemed most easy to implement. Maybe it's something that generated a gut-level, visceral reaction as you read it. Maybe it's the only thing you remembered after your read the book. Just do *something.* After you've implemented one strategy from the book, apply a second. Then, go back and reread this book. The implications of every chapter are so deep, you are guaranteed to peel back different layers every time you read it. Finally, if number analysis is not your strong suit, I suggest you find and/or appoint a "Data Friend." Don't get me wrong, there's plenty to learn, even if data analysis makes you go cross-eyed. However, you will seriously amplify your results if you have a Data Friend with whom you can discuss and collaborate. I have been a client of the author's for several years and I take my hat off to him for helping me, a life-long hater of math, understand and apply 80/20 to my life and business. It is his insight and coaching that is directly responsible for the rapid growth of my business! Of course, there's always more that can be learned and done, which is why I'm thrilled to have this "pocket-sized" version of his 80/20 teachings and insights. This is truly a one-of-a-kind resource for anyone in sales and marketing. Even if you only read one chapter, you can't go wrong!

Incredibly valuable book for any business owner because it talks about exponential returns
I've had my own business for years now, and I have known since at least college about the 80/20 principle, or the Pareto Principle. Tim Ferriss talks about it in The Four Hour Workweek. I was not impressed by the cover that much. I opened it up and really enjoyed the sample. The visual depictions of his statements are really good in this book. It is hard to absorb statistics. It's much easier to consume numbers visually.

Extremely valuable information - worth 100s of times the price
I have been a student of Perry Marshall for many years, and what I have learned from him has in no small way influenced the creation and growth of my business. This book is a remarkable distillation of very smart business thinking, and provides a neat summary of much that Perry has been teaching for the past few years. Perry is a strategic thinker, and so appeals to people who like to understand a big concept and then to apply it in various forms to their business. 80/20 is a very big - and very important - concept that has many applications to various aspects of business...and also to life. This book will appeal to the geekier business owners. I use that term in a positive sense, because an appreciation of the value of "geek" subjects such as percentages and ratios is critical to growing a real, sustainable business. (You don't need be a math genius to get this book, just an appreciation of the importance of numbers.) If you prefer flavor-of-the month tricks, then this book might not be for you. The bonus tools and documents that come with the book are extremely valuable. There is, for example, a cheat sheet that summarizes the book's main concepts. (That's 80/20 thinking for you - the most valuable chunk can be summarized in just a few words). There's also a link to an online tool that allows you to apply 80/20 thinking to your own business. I found this tool takes some time to get to grips with (especially for someone numbers-challenged, as I am), and perhaps the output graphs could be more detailed to be of even more concrete use. But these are just minor points. The book will give you 100x the value from the bonus tools alone. All in all, this book is a ridiculous steal at the price it's for sale at. (Perry is also a talented writer - I found it hard to put down.) (Kindle edition)

80/20 Is A Double-Edged Sword. But It's Powerful (And Worth It).
I've heard the "80/20" rule in passing throughout my life. And for the most part I disregarded it as just kind of a blanket theory like "work hard" or "do what you love" - common sense without practical application. But Perry really impressed me with this, and that's not easy to do. He gives numerous examples of 80/20 in action in day-to-day life and really demonstrates with empirical data that it applies to EVERYTHING. I've always been a big fan of leverage. But this book has trained me to see through 80/20 goggles. And he really drives home the point that the real power isn't in understanding 80/20, but 80/20 multiplied. The top 20% of the top 20% and so on, 80/20 multiplied until you're focusing on the exponential leverage - the top 1% of things that will have massive impact on your business and life. For that reason alone I highly recommend this book. But 80/20 applies to learning too - and if you're in sales and marketing, there are MASSIVE insights here into what Perry is focusing on in his own business. My initial skepticism was that "80/20" is a great hook for a business book - and I wasn't wrong. It has wide appeal - but it delivers. It also gives you plenty of reasons to dig deeper into Perry's funnel, although the book delivers heaps of value, you'll find yourself wanting to go further down the rabbit hole, and Perry provides plenty of (free) opportunities to do so. If you watch closely Perry is "racking the shotgun". He's automating his funnel. He's rapidly disqualifying. He's practicing exactly what he preaches - and he does so in a way that doesn't take any value away from the book. There are a TON of great marketing lessons in here, both explicit and implicit - and they're equally valuable if you pay attention to them. I titled this "80/20 Is A Double-Edged Sword" because while it's powerful, it's also easy to fall into the trap of always pursuing a faster/easier way of doing things, and in the process never accomplishing anything. I see people do that all the time. But this provides a great roadmap into focusing on the areas you can leverage for massive results. Just be sure to ACT on the advice and not falling into the trap of thinking you have to reach the point of 100% leverage before you take action. If you spend $100 on this book, take the lessons to heart and never pay attention to Perry again, your money would be well spent. Fair warning though - if you're the kind of person who appreciates these kinds of strategies, you're most likely going to find yourself immersed in Perry's world long after this book... ...Which is fine. You can ignore the tools and bonuses, digest the book and walk away, you'll get much more than your moneys worth. Or you'll find yourself sucked in to Perry's funnel - which whether you decide to buy from or not you'll get a front-row seat to an 80/20 sales and marketing education done right. Final Thoughts: Judging the book alone. Pay attention to what he teaches - pay just as much attention to what he does. Do that alone and this could easily be the most valuable sales and marketing education you'll find anywhere. I highly recommend this - that includes close friends and family. If you're involved in sales, marketing or entrepreneurship, I highly suggest grabbing it right now and reading it today.

More value per page than any business book I can remember
If all you had was $15 to buy one business book, I think I'd have to put this one at the top. I read The 80/20 Principle by Richard Koch back in 2002. It is one of the most memorable and useful books I've ever read. But Perry's book is just as memorable, just as inspiring, and even more useful for entrepreneurs and sales people. It's that good. At just 220 pages, I can't think of another business book that has as much value per page as this book has. It is absolutely packed with useful information and powerful insights. The whole "racking the shotgun" concept in the beginning of the book is so vivid it'll stick with you forever. And the final chapter is perfect: a timely reminder that life isn't always about the ruthless use of 80/20. You could read this book in a few days... get spectacular results within a few weeks... but still spend years mastering the concepts. In other words, this book very well could change your life.

Zuschlagen. Kaufen. Mehr bleibt nicht zu sagen.

The best business book out there
No joke, this will change the way you think about business. And how you will do business. And you can revisit this ook to learn more. I read this again recently five years later. Five years after embracing 80/20 Sales and Marketing. And it's like reading a different book. It's rammed with good stuff. And the free Marketing DNA test and follow up info is worth the price on it's own. In fact, we send this book to all potential new workers to see if their skills fit with our needs. Invaluable. And well worth the effort to avoid expensive 'clangers'. And that's just one tiny part of this masterpiece
