Is there a driver somewhere? It didn't come with anything, and some of the buttons can't otherwise be configured.

There is setup software available, but it only allows a few preset functions or macros, and is pretty useless for gaming. The extra buttons cannot be configured to work with game setups using the keybinding utility provided with most PC games. For example, you cannot configure button 5 to simulate the N key on the keyboard or an Alternate Fire in the game.

What is the little metal knob for on the back of the mouse

It looks like the hex screw used for adjustment on a R.A.T mouse, but as previously answered, is just decoration. Similarly, note that while the finger platforms may look adjustable for width, they are not.

Does it work on Alienware?

Yes this mouse will work on an allienware computer and any other computer that is Windows OS. I'm sorry this may not answer the question about Apple OS as I've never tried it on one. I can also tell you that you can find the proper drivers herehttp://www.dragonblogger.com/masione-x11-gaming-mouse-review/ thank you

Does this mouse have weights in it. I want to buy for a friend who loves pc gaming and likes his current mouse because its weighted

It does not have weights in it but it is a heavy mouse. Hope this helps you out.
