Can this be laid on carpet or the floor to let my lizard have a warm area to rest after playing? Specifically carpet and hard wood floors

No, never set anything heated in carpet or hardwood floors. It will burn it

Where is the temperature sensor located?

This doesn’t really have a temperature sensor. It has one dial that turns the heat on and from low to high however no gauge or markings of any kind to state temperature or how low or high the heat is. Just a dial with no markings.

What is the high temp?

When my thermostat probe slipped off from over where it was supposed to be and it made the heat pad kick on for a little while, my temp gun read 119.4 or something like that. If you won't need to go above 120 you should definitely be good but it may go hotter.
