My phone has the Miracast option that casts what I'm watching on the phone onto my television without Wi-Fi. Will this device work the ?

I returned the miracast device when I found out that my android phone had a app built in to directly cast my phone screen to my smart TV. It is easy to use that way. My wife's Apple phone does casting via Airplay. A 'dumb' TV probably needs this adapter or something similar. But I haven't done it this way.
