I did a lot of homework to find a lightweight yet durable pair of carbon fiber trekking poles with cork handles at a more reasonable price than the black diamonds I was interested in for $179. I found these by good luck, by looking at another, more popular Amazon brand which I wasn't very excited or impressed by. I gave The Fit Life poles the chance, and found them to be excellent! They are very well-designed, well-built, very easy to adjust the locking mechanisms, and have the uphill black grips below the cork grips. The cork is faux cork, I believe, but it has absolutely done a great job of keeping grip even as I sweat on a hard hike. I also found it to Bri pretty cool that The Fit Life product came in a choice of colors -- this would not have been a deal-maker or -breaker, but it certainly did enhance my excitement about it the brand compared to others. I also found it really cool that the company includes a variety of different feet for different conditions , and I absolutely will keep the feet . The protective Satchel which comes with the polls is not going to go on my backpacking trip, but when these are left at home in the closet, they will go in the bag -- again an unnecessary feature, but a nice little bonus. Most importantly, I have already put approximately 100 miles of hiking on these poles and they've been nothing short of excellent!! They will be going with me on the Long Trail in Vermont and the Centennial Trail in South Dakota!

I used these poles during a recent trip to Antarctica and they performed perfectly despite being bathed in a powerful disinfectant on a daily basis. Beside being somewhat thin, and light, they have held up to a great deal of use in a variety of conditions. They come with two sizes of baskets and replacement feet. The carbon fiber is beautiful to look at, and the levers hold snugly to insure no collapse.

Just received my TheFitLife Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles order. Although I haven't had much chance to use them, I have already determined that they will truly aid me in steadying myself when walking. My daughter had been after me to get a set of walking poles and, after purchasing this relatively inexpensive set, I am very happy with my purchase. The poles are light, sturdy, and adjustable making them versatile and can be adapted to any number of terrain conditions such as snow, mud, sandy soil, and pavement with a simple exchange of rubber tips and baskets. Plus, by removing the rubber tips, the poles have wear-resistant carbide tips to aid in slippery walking conditions. All in all, I must say that my daughter gave me a good tip that will help me to walk more comfortably and safely. I'm looking forward to getting some valuable exercise.

I normally use only one hiking stick, in the right hand. I have a bunch and they’re all real wood, discovered in various place in the Adirondacks. Pro tip …best place to find a nice hiking stick is a beaver dam! Usually light weight wood sticks, already weathered and gnawed to perfection. I dont like manufactured trekking poles because: 1 - the click clack noise they pollute the forest with 2 - the tips of them leave unsightly scrapes on all the rocks along the trails. 3 - the tips always fall off at some point and leave a non biodegradable item on the forest floor 4 - they are simply not as durable as real wood poles. I dont care what your pole is made out of, I am not confident that it can take full body weight or survive getting accidentally wedged between some rocks. Real wood “gives” a bit, while your carbon fiber is going to snap in half. 5 - I always see people along the trail experience an unexpected collapsing of the poles. It’s hilarious. I saw one guy snap his fancy pole across his knee after biting the ground. Wood sticks dont do that. Anyways. I bought these specifically for hikes that require air travel. I just finished 8 days on Kilimanjaro and these worked nicely. The terrain is wide open, nothing technically complex or gnarly along the trails. So they were basically “walking sticks” in terms of anticipated function. They collapse down nicely and fit in a large pack, or you can strap to the side of the pack. Only issue is that on a test run up in the Adirondacks here in upstate NY, one of the “default tips” that came on the poles popped off somewhere. Couldn’t find it. So now there’s yet another pole tip that’s going to sit on the forest floor for 100,000 years. Dang it. However, the kit comes with some other tips. Including two tips that seem to be the same as the ones that come installed from the factory EXCEPT that they screw on. So I popped those two on there, and they seem very tightly set. Try it out. When you get these poles out of the box, yank on the tips. Do they pop right off? If so, screw the other ones on. I didnt experience and pole collapsing. I put some weight on them on downhill portions. If you’ve never been to Kili, the down is way worse than the up if you have knee cap arthritis like i do. Coming down from the summit is scree scree scree and then toe-jamming mile after mile of sloped descent. There is no way these can take full body weight when the pole is at max or near max length. It’s a bit wobbly compared to wood. BUT, it does NOT make that annoying CLICK CLANK noise that everyone else’s poles do. Nice! So far 4 stars here, and I’ll update this if things change.

I love these poles, they are worth every penny. This is my first set of piles so I have limited knowledge but I'm so glad I read reviews before I purchased. I've used these poles less than a dozen times but they're great. They have been used in the rain, mud, sidewalk, steep forest trails, gravel paths, and on stones. Love the cork handles and straps for allowing a good grip and security. All the different tips and baskets are awesome. I live in MI so I always have the mud baskets on and they havnt gotten in the way. They are so easy to adjust and accommodate all sizes. My 6'2" husband or my 4yr old can use them with very little effort or time spent adjusting. Plus I love that you can select different colors because I may have to buy a set for each of my kids. I have Ehlors Danlos Syndrome and thes take pressure off my joints and back. Even while wearing a water bottle filled backpack. They make it possible for me to hike longer and more safely. Due to the EDS I can be a mega clutz on uneven trails. I always fall but with these I can put all my weight on these to catch myself (230lbs plus wearing a backpack) and they have not bent or failed to support me. They have taken the anxiety out of steep terrain. I'm getting out more and my activity level has gone way up and I'm getting my life back for a mere $40. Worth every penny.

General comments about trekking poles: After a 6-hour hike on a very rough trail in Moab using a traditional walking stick, I decided to try these trekking poles on my next outings at Zion and Canyonlands national parks. I was surprised by how much they improved my walking speed and endurance. The stability improvement was also noticable, just not as surprising. I was able to travel further and faster with less effort; it feels like they redistribute a small portion of the walking effort from your legs to your upper body for a more evenly balanced total effort. I expected a big improvement in stability, especially on rough terrain, but did not expect better walking performance. The poles are not exclusively for rough terrain, as I originally thought, but also improve walking on flat, even ground. DO watch a couple of videos on techniques of how to best use trekking poles for best results. I saw a lot of other walkers carrying trekking poles on the trail but not using them very effectively. These particular poles are ultra light, sturdy, and easy to adjust. The carry case is convenient. I have not had a need to use the accessory tips, but like having them as an option.

was on the fence with trekking poles, but decided to get a pair to try them out and landed on these due to weight and cost. I am 6ft 1 and I put all my body into these as we hiked up and down mountains for a 2 week new mexico trip and they were fantastic. Once I got them set to my desired height they were great. Light weight, I think they slide down once or twice, but I little tightening of the adjustment screw and I was set. SUPER helpful on the uphills when carrying 50+lbs and they weight next to nothing. Compared to the more expensive $100+ black diamond ones my buddy had... these had more plastic on the adjustment screws and locking parts, but the plastic was fine. Functionally identical and way less. I did tear through the rubber tips after a week, but I picked up a set of mountain smith replacement tips... they were a bit nicer, but it wasn't THAT much better. Would recommend no question.

Used these on multiple hikes while in Utah.... The Narrows, Kanarra Falls, and The West Rim Trail... Having several choices of feet was invaluable for the different terrains. Having the length markings made for quick convenient set up. The clips were strong and held fast. Even though they don't collapse as compact as the folding ones, I prefer the telescopic ones as they are more sturdy. They still collapse compact enough to carry on your day pack. The cork handles stay "grippy" even when wet. We had some people that were hiking with us that had a hiking stick. We let them test out these trekking poles. They all said they preferred the trekking poles and that they would be getting them. Great product for a great price.
