Panasonic HC-V110 Light Weight HD 1080p Digital Camcorder (Blue) Review: Great camcorder! - I use this camcorder to record church services each week, from which I make DVD copies for members' uses. (These dvd's have gone all over the world! So a good quality recording is essential.) Granted, it isn't the quality of a professional camera, but its quality is more than adequate, and definitely better than what should be expected for a camcorder of its price range. The option to either download videos to my computer or record directly onto a DVD with my DVD recorder is definitely a plus also. However, if your computer does not have the capability to process a high quality 1080 video, you will need to purchase a video converter program that can reduce the resolution a bit. I go ahead and reduce it to 720x480, but still get excellent results. Of course, if you record your video directly to a DVD recorder, you should still be able to take advantage of the 1080. This is my second Panasonic camcorder (the first I got about 6 years ago), so this one was very easy for me to deal with the technical settings, but even if this is your first, give yourself a little time, download the owner's manual onto your tablet so you can easily carry it with you the first few times you record videos, and you will be fine and take many great videos with this camcorder. On, by the way, since it comes with just one rechargeable battery, it may be beneficial to consider going back to desertcart and getting a couple of spare batteries and a charger. At 1080 resolution you can expect 50-60 minutes of record time. Have fun! Review: Don't buy this camera because Panasonic's warranty service should be called "disservice" - I don't recommend that you buy this camera. The camera's screen stopped working within 8 months of purchase. I had used it only 3 times. It was difficult to contact Panasonic but when I finally did, I was told that I had to mail the camera to their "Panacare" center at my own expense. Then I received an email about two weeks later informing me that it would be repaired for an out of warranty cost of $52.50. When I called to say that it was within a year of purchase I was told that "parts are covered for one year" but labor for only 90 days. It was, of course, in the fine print. This kind of customer disservice makes this camera a huge "no" for me. I will not be buying Panasonic products in the future.

Easy to operate
It was a gift for our son and daughter on law on the eve of the birth of their daughter! I used it while at hospital capturing moments such as when brother and sister first saw their new baby sister. Easy to operate. However, battery seems to discharge quickly. Have to make sure charger is handy. Another reason I didn't give 5 stars is when my son went to transfer videos off card onto laptop, it took him a very long time to get system set-up. He is very good with techie-stuff too!

What a Cute Little Gadget!
I have had 5 digital camcorders, but finally thought I would try one which supported HiDefinition. I compared the Panasonic with similar models by Sony and Canon, and the V110 seemed to have more to offer, and was $100 less than the Canon. I also found some very impressive sample videos taken with the V110 on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2ChxDOgJS8 I have the blue version, but I strongly suspect that the other colors work just as well! When you go to charge your battery , be aware that the instructions leave one point out. You begin by opening the LCD door (which turns on the camera), then before you plug in the USB cable from the charger several steps later you MUST turn off the camcorder using the power button inside the LCD door!! Otherwise no charging takes place! (edited on 12 Oct14) The price seems to have gone up a bit since I purchased mine at Amazon for $194.
