Much better than I expected!
Great knife! Light weight & very sharp! Smooth open, feels great in the hand. The pocket clip is deep enough so knife does not stick out of pocket - very concealed - you only see the orange top of knife. I didn't expect much at this price and thought it may be a little gimmicky due to Bear Grylls. But was pleasantly surprised as to the quality. The blade was very sharp right out of the package. The best thing (besides the sharp blade) is it weighs almost nothing. Great Every Day Carry (EDC) knife. Perfect size for EDC - small enough not to get in the way in your pocket yet large enough for most tasks. This is a great knife for me (older adult).... but would also be a great knife for a Boy Scout or other youth that likes to camp and be outdoors. I thought the orange may be a little hokey, but I actually like it. Will make it easier to find if camping. I would highly recommend this knife. The price is excellent for the quality you get. You won't be disappointed. I also got the Bear Grylls smaller pocket knife (from another site for $8) and was also pleasantly surprised with that one as well... very sharp, very light weight, fits in the small pocket of my jeans (no clip). Will put in my tackle box when going fishing. EDIT 3/23/13: After a few months of owning this knife, I still really like it. But I find that I do not reach for it for my EDC. I think it is the Orange color. Which is a good color if camping and you misplace it - easy to spot... but something about that orange knife top peaking out of my jean pocket line keeps me from grabbing this knife for EDC... but I do use it around the house.

Pretty cool multi edged knife.
I bought this to have a decent knife to keep in the car for occasional use. It is very comfortable to hold and use, and while I am not a fan of serrations it does a fine job at cutting. It did not come razor sharp but, it came to life after a few minutes on a 600 grit stone. It does hold an edge pretty well for budget steel and after using it extensively I have only had to touch up the blade a couple of times. The titanium coating does wear off rather easily in my opinion, and I am not sure of the steel in the blade, so I have made a habit of keeping a light coat of oil on it after use. I have used the knife to cut up loads of card board boxes at work, as well as cutting off the plastic binding straps of boxes. I have cut up lots of sticks and twigs, and small pruning chores around the garden. Overall I think it is a fine budget folder that anyone could use especially for scouting tasks. It being a Bear Grylls product, people automatically think of survival. But in reality while the build quality is decent enough for $20 it is certainly not robust enough to be considered a good choice for an emergency survival scenario. If you are looking for a good (not great) quality folding knife, and you happen to be a Bear Grylls fan like I am, I think it is a nice knife to have and use. These knives do come in a fine edged version that does not have the 1/2 serrated blade if you prefer but, to be honest the combo edge is a useful feature if you plan to cut alot of rope, para cord, twine, etc.

An ok folder for EDC
I have some experience with knives, but this is the first one I actually bought myself. For me, it breaks down like this: Pros: -Came out of package sharp as hell -The entire thing is pretty cool looking, with regard to both blade shape/style and the handle -Ergonomic and super grippy. Gotta love that jimping. -Durable clip Cons: -Blade loosened a bit after fairly light use -Bright orange plastic not fantastic for subdued carrying, especially when using the clip -Began to rust in spots after less than a year of light use, despite the coating -Not the smoothest of swivels, but still fine Also: be sure you want serration, cause this thing has it in good measure. I found out that I'm not really a fan of serrations, at least for my use, but that's just me. Also not a huge fan of the lockback mechanism, but again that's just my taste. Overall, it is a fairly good value and also makes for a good first knife because of price and safety.

GREAT little knife!
Okay, let me start by saying, yes, I'm a girl, but I have also owned and used several knives in my lifetime. I was looking for a new one which had a smooth and serated blade, folding, and that was long enough to actually get a grip on but also small enough to be able to carry in my pocket or purse. This little knife (4-1/16' closed) fits the bill! This knife fits in my hand perfectly and just feels good. Gerber is a trusted brand and I think they and Bear Grylls did a great job on this one. S-M-O-O-T-H action of one handed opening upon arrival, light weight (not flimsy!), sharp blade, blade lock mechanism is at the rear of the handle rather than up front as some are which makes this safer to use- no blade accidentally folding up on your hand. I am VERY happy I chose this knife as my next.

This is a overall good knife. The blade and serrations came very sharp ...
This is a overall good knife. The blade and serrations came very sharp and uniform. The grip is comfortable but does not have the best ergonomics. This is a relatively light knife, but this makes it easy to notice that the weight balance is a bit off. This would make a good EDC pocket knife if you are not worried about overall aesthetics. I prefer a more decorative knife as my EDC but this does make a good knife for working outside and not worried about losing it. The main reason I gave this 3 stars is due to the pocket clip design. Not sure if it was just the knife I recieved, but it had a rather large lip bind on the clip. This made it easy to attach it to my pocket, but made it very easy to snag on other objects. When it would get snagged the clip would get bent and would have to be bent back into shape. After this happening multiple time I decided to remove the clip and just put the knife in my pocket.

Do Not Bother Buying This Knife
I have been a knife enthusiast all my life. Over the years I have purchased knives from Kershaw, Spyderco, Smith and Wesson, Buck, Zero Tolerance and more. And yes I have purchased Gerber knives in the past. This is by far one of Gerbers worst efforts. You absolutely have to use two hands to open this knife. There is an actual grinding feel as you open the knife. And as I stated before, absolutely no way this knife will open using the thumb stud with one hand. The locking mechanism is quite solid, but the handle is such cheap plastic, no feel or weight to the unit. The weight and feel makes it seem as if you are holding a toy knife and makes one feel as if it will break the first time you use it. This is one persons opinion and I am sure others have had a more positive with this knife. However, in my opinion, this knife is just a marketing ploy. Gerber slapped Bear Grylls name on this knife and marketed it as a survival knife...This is the last knife you would ever want in a survival situation. This is the fourth knife I have purchased from Gerber and I cannot say I would never buy another knife from them because honestly, they do make some great products. This however, IS NOT one of them.

Very well made knife - 4 years of EDC use and still going strong.
My EDC knife has been on my hip for almost two years now, and I won't leave home without it. Still sharp as ever, easy to open, and the clip hasn't loosened a bit, either. I also appreciate the grip on it, which has held up well, too. UPDATE: Over 4 years on. and it's still my EDC knife of choice. I've had a couple others come and go, but this is still the one I come back to. The slim design is only appreciated when you try out other bulkier knives that get in the way, or take up too much room in your pocket. Plus, the orange makes it easy to spot when I need to find it quickly, or if I've dropped it. I've only had to sharpen it once or twice in 4+ years, but I don't cut much that would dull a blade, and I take care not to dull or chip it. The rubberized grip is still in perfect condition, so it doesn't slip. The pocket clip is also still at the same perfect tension for staying put in my pocket.

Une grosse daube
Je l ai ouvert, la lame s'est barrée d' un côté, le manche de l 'autre! Quelle honte!
