The subtitle couldn't be more accurate: A History of the B-Boy is a comprehensive look at the world's "freshest kids." This lively documentary isn't about hip-hop or hip-hop culture as much as about an integral part of that culture. B-boys are defined, variously, as "breakboys" (the original term) and "breakdancers" (the more widely known one). These "kids," many now in their 30s, helped to shape hip-hop's look and spread its gospel. The narrative traces their evolution from the South Bronx 1970s to media-crazed 1980s--when they were featured in movies from Wild Style to Flashdance --to today, as the phenomenon has returned to the underground while remaining as popular as ever (as exemplified by footage from Germany, Japan, etc.). The old and new school are on hand to explain and to praise the b-boy; everyone from rappers like KRS-One and Mos Def to breakers like Crazy Legs and Ken Swift. --Kathleen C. Fennessy Breaking... Born at Kool D.J. Herc's House parties in the early '70s, catapulted to a worldwide phenomenon in the '80s, and now experiencing its latest gravity-defying incarnation as a thriving underground movement, "The Freshest Kids" brings to you the illest B-Boying this planet has ever witnessed. Over two hours of hardcore breaking gives you an all-access pass to the underground world of B-Boys spanning the last 25+ years. See and hear the early history via rare archival footage and exclusive interviews with The Nigga Twins, Spy (the man with 1000 moves), Rock Steady Crew icons Crazy Legs and Ken Swift, The New York City Breakers, Mr. Wiggles, Styelements and the world's most innovative B-boys of the next generation along with hip-hop legends Kool D.J. Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, KRS-One, Mos Def and many more as they come together to reveal for the first time the most comprehensive history of B-Boying, its evolution and its place within hip-hop culture and beyond. an outstanding eye-opener to negligence of the bboy
prior to viewing this film, my idea of breakin' was vague; i thought breakin' was something that just happened in the 80s, died out, and saw resurgeance in presentday media. however, this film gave me insight into a shadowed world of hip-hop and breakdancing, an element of hip hop culture that i see as rich and as pure as rap, scratching and graffiti. sadly enough, the b-boys of yesterday and today don't get much love from society because they were forgotten. having released this video should change that and i recommend any hardcore bboy fan to purchase this video and add it to their collection. THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME AND TRULY GREAT IN ITS ENTIRETY. FURTHERMORE, THE TAPING OF THIS DOCUMENTARY IS ARTISTIC AND CREATIVE. MAY BBOYING LIVE FOREVER AND MUCH LOVE TO THE ROCKSTEADY CREW!!!

Interesting
I'm too young to really remember the full impact that the b-boy had on our culture. I remember watching my older cousin with wonder and enjoying everything he did. This is a great dvd, especially for those that don't know that much about b-boys.

IF YOU LOVE B-BOYING (AKA BREAKDANCING) YOU MUST BUY THIS DVD!
I am a 'professional' female in my 30's, and remember and love breakdancing. I am soooo glad I bought this DVD which I plan on giving to my son for his birthday. But now the DVD will be OURS! What's great about it is that it shows the old 70's/early 80's b-boying stars & clips and then talks to the same people all grown up in their 30's/40's today. You WILL watch this over and over! Great history and roots of this NYC, then West Coast phenomenon...If only today's Hip Hop & Rap were as fun and clean as breakdancing was...

Fresh is the word...
This DVD totally covers pretty much everything you should know about the B-boy and B-boy culture. As far as how it started, to where it stands today. The interviews are raw, and to the point. From the footage of the early days, to the present, is very well put together. It just, all flows. Very fresh. Also the special features isn't just a bunch of crap, which usually gets put on DVD's. This DVD is way worth the price, and well wicked. Buy It! peace.

freshest kid
freshest kid is worth to look at because I did most of what they did when I was a kid growing up.BreaKDANCING was a world wide format which alot of people embraced if you was notice and was good everybody that like breaking would give you mad prop .the crab walk or spider walk was also a breakdancer move because it show how flexible you are when you bunny hop with it.I which it was in the movie because I had a partner from Newyork and we go different club in Miami and girls goes nut over it plus our styles compliment each other. It brought me memory definitely the movie is worth looking at because I have sons and tell them I use to do it but you really have to practice to be really good at it.
