Haven’t gotten around to using this yet. Great book. Well made, great variety of color mixes, at a glance. I’ve oil painted for 40 years. Was looking to be able to mix for different colors without buying dozens of them. Satisfied it will definitely help with that.

No complaints about the price. Easy directions for mixing are included.

Pretty good book. Do not stress the color names. Figure out the colors you need for your project. Errata: page 12, color 69, missing third color Recipe should be: 3 Cadmium Orange 1 Naple Yellow [1 Speck Cerulean Blue]

This book is not just a book but a "tool" to learn to mix paints. We bought this for my daughter for Christmas along with a paint set and canvases, and she has already put it to good use. While most how-to books have a lot of fluff, this gets right to the point with recipes. The best part is the guide in the back, that shows you exactly how much a "Part" is, when called for in a recipe. It is really fool-proof and easy for a beginner to use.

I first bought the 1,500 recipe larger book, but the color swatches were much darker than the results I got. So I decided to order another book but didn't realize at the time that this book is just a subset of the larger book. Decided to keep it, and when I compared them side by side, this book has much more accurate color swatches than the larger version. In the pic the larger is on the left and this one on the right.

Not exactly on my game with mixing colors to get what I want. This book is very good, and using it has upped may paint mixing game. The only trouble for me, is I didn't have a lot of the specific colors needed for some of the color mixes I needed, so I had to buy more. Not at all the fault of the book, but more about my lack of paint inventory to work with.

Niet geschikt voor me

Ah, now it is rather hard to review this as I have never been good with paints or drawing! My talents lie in writing fiction and non-fiction and making stunning crystal jewellery. However, I recall a movie I saw when I was about 13 called "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" which I saw in the 1950s! I never forgot that wonderful movie, and have always had a love for this character and her little friends, the 7 dwarves. I recall making little statues to help my mum out as she had 8 children and we was very poor. She bought the moulds and plaster and I made little holy statues from the moulds and we used to go round with an old pram and knock on the doors! And yes! They all sold well, so I decided to have another go all these years later and I bought Snow White and her 7 friends in latex rubber and she is 9 inches tall and the dwarves are 5 inches each so I was thrilled and have bought paints etc as I go along. I noticed with most of the paints including two boxes I bought from Amazon, they don't appear to have pastel shades at all??? Like for painting flesh colours etc! I ended up sending off for 16 pastel tubes, so yes I am on my way lol. The book? Well,for its price I thought it was BRILLIANT! Simply because the material was perfect, lovely thick laminated shiny boards on a spiral, the whole book from beginning to end was well made, a decent size. However, I did "get some of what the guy was talking about" but I was expecting a book that said for example "mix ……. and ……. to make the colour...…….. but it wasn't quite like that! ha ha. But yes, with reading it a bit more I am sure I will get the hang of it, and def a 5 star rating from me, for the simple way it was laid out and the perfection of the book itself, it's a shame a lot of books aren't made like this, because they are so easy to open and lay out flat instead of the pages "bouncing back and closing up!" Yes I highly recommend it, I did at least understand some of it, so I am satisfied.
