Does this still leak oil all over my damn drive way

The real issue here is that you have a driveway. It was a special design by LR at the time, oil only leaks on driveways so the diff locks are put to work on the school drop off. Proper Defender owners have fields and yards to park them on and hence never complaints of oil leaks.

Do you need any tools to build it

No you dont need any tools to build it. All the lego blocks click together. This set consists of 2,573 pieces. The pieces/parts come in numbered bags. Makes the build more organised. Dont need to put out all the pieces at once. The instruction manual consists of 489 pages involving 860 steps to be completed in 4 stages. Good luck. I hope I have addressed your question.

It does not require batteries. No room for a Motor I suppose. Not sure how the gearbox works in practice as I have yet to build it.
