i remember as a kid ovaltine was crunchy is this crunchy or powdery

Not the same crystalline, crunchy consistency as in 50s-60s -- which I preferred; but once mixed in milk, the same great taste.

How does this taste compared to nestle carnations malted milk powder?

Carnation malted milk powder is richer in malt flavor. Ovaltine is not so "malty" but has a caramel/nougat flavor with a malt base. Of course that's pretty subjective.

Shelf life aftet expiration date

If you close it tightly and place in the refrigerator, I have kept it up to a year without changing the taste. HTH

Please could someone list the ingredients?

Look it up on line and there will be a list of ingredients. I called and they said NO CAFFEINE and that was what I was most concerned about. The chocolate version probably does have caffeine which is why I use the malt version.
