Professionlism in Medicine, by Spandorfer, Pohl, Rattner, and Nasca, arrived on time and in good condition. A brief overview of the text suggests that I will be able to apply the material to student and resident teaching. In particular, I intend to use the text and numerous case stories to help learners sharpen their sensitivity to the ethical dimensions of every-day patient care and their ethical reasoning skills.

This book will not hone your skills in diagnosis and treatment.The cases presented deal with ethics such as reporting impaired physicians,revealing a cancer dignosis to a patient despite family reluctance,telling a patient about errors during medical or surgical procedures,treating members of your own family,influence of drug reps,how aggresively to treat terminal cases,etc.The dicussions of each case cover at least several pages and often are very generalized and tedious.This would have been an interesting book if it were 200 pages or less,but at 464 pages the discussions drag too much.I don't think medical students would appreciate the book's content until they have had a lot of patient interaction(and the time because there is a lot of slow thought provoking reading).

The product was delivered very quickly and the product was in excellent condition as described by the sender. I would use this sender again in the future. The content of the book is good using cases with expert opinions to provide another viewpoint and provides many useful references.

医学生向きのプロフェッショナリズムの教科書のようである。日本では医学部でプロフェッショナリズムの教育が皆無であるところが多いので、卒後臨床研修においても役立ちそうである。マイケル・サンデルばりにディスカッションするにも良い参考書になるだろう。
