PureBites Salmon Single Ingredient Freeze Dried Cat Treats, 2 oz

Our 3 picky cats love these salmon and chicken freeze dried treats. They go crazy for their bedtime treats.

What is a cat not to love!!!! We have a finicky feline with discriminating taste. A PureBites freeze dried salmon treat is the only cat snack that she will accept. It has to be salmon and has to be PureBites!

I used to buy these at my local Petsmart for over a year for my three indoor bengal cats. They would eat them without issue in the past. I decided to buy this bigger bag here on Amazon and the price for this 2 oz. bag was as cheap as the smaller bags I got at the pet store. After about 8 days, my two males were starting to act weird and my female still refused to even eat these new treats to begin with. Both males started vomiting yellow bile colored liquid multiple times per day over Memorial Day weekend. I stopped giving them the treats immediately (I was giving them one or two nickel sized chunks once a day when I'd get home from work). Both cats refused to drink or eat their regular food and the vomiting continued. My female showed no signs of being sick. She ate their normal foods and drank the same water without issue. The only difference was she didn't eat these treats. My one male (the normally vocal cheerful one that always wants to be in everyone's business) started getting lethargic about day three of the puking. He wouldn't get up to play or even walk to his food and water dish. The other male was drinking but not eating and throwing up constantly. He wasn't interested in playing and only wanted to lay down. I'd had enough. I made an appointment at the vet's office and after a $600 bill with xrays, bloodwork, subcutaneous fluids, etc., they found out my one male's pancreas was inflamed. He tested negative for cancer (thank God) but they said it could be a few other issues (diabetes, etc.). My other male luckily didn't have the same issues. They prescribed a bland diet, special food, anti-inflammatory med injections, antibiotics, and an oral nausea medication for both cats. After a few days their condition started improving, they were drinking water normally, and their appetites started coming back. Their condition has drastically improved and they are finally back to their crazy energetic selves running full blast around the house at 3am like nothing ever happened. They are starting to eat their normal food and they haven't puked since. It's been about a month now and I regret ever buying these treats. I will not buy them in the future and would never recommend them to anyone.

These salmon treats are so disappointing. When they first came out on the market, they were the best treats! My cat adores them, so I've been ordering them for the past 10 years. That said, I noticed the quality began to change 2-3 years ago. I've tried to be patient, hoping the processing would improve. It has not. Now, the treats are obviously quick cut and covered with skin. The skin is hard and dry, with sharp ends at times. There is no consistent size to each treat. To make good use of the current bag, I have to peel the skin off the treats and try to break the large ones down to size. This bag of treats arrived ultra dried-- they are hard. I will put a small piece of fresh lettuce in the bag to help them soften a bit, but things shouldn't be this way. This bag of salmon treats will be my last. I've tried other brands of salmon treats, but they are largely the same. Moving to whitefish treats, which thankfully don't seem to have the same issues. What I will also do with the treats in this bag is pulverize them into chunky powder. My cat loves "sprinkles" on top of her food.

The cat seems pretty indifferent with this. He can take it or leave it.

Another bag half had to be thrown out. Half was unusable. Hard and all skin. My cats love freeze dried purebites chicken,salmon tuna but the salmon was barely edible! I would like a refund! Whole life brand too. This is getting expensive since I have to throw at least half the bag away. I have 3 cats it's not cheap.

Cats love it. Suggest cutting up larger pieces.

WARNING. PEEL OFF THE SKIN. It is way too tough to even rip or cut. My cat choked on it as well as someone's cat that I bought the treats for.

Lots of junk like sharp skin pieces, very dangerous and needs to be filtered out. Very little actual freeze dried fish "meat"

Got the salmon as the tuna one that I usually buy is currently not available. Thought my cats would like it as well. For the most part they do but they cannot eat the skin leaving it behind. And there is a lot of skin that doesn't have any meat on it. Will just wait for when the tuna comes available again or buy it somewhere else.
