Grand Canyoneering: Exploring the Rugged Gorges and Secret Slots of the Grand Canyon Paperback – August 23, 2011

This book is only for experienced Grand Canyon hikers or an GC enthusiasts library.If you are extremely adventurous, and in excellent shape, these trips into the Wild Grand Canyon are well explained, laid out, and rated. The difficulties of each expedition are well explained. There are ample warnings of what one is getting into. The amount of gear necessary for some of these expeditions is daunting, but well explained.The book is beautifully done and is an excellent addition to any Grand Canyon enthusiasts library. The pictures are in full color and large enough to appreciate.

This is a beautifully produced book. Great pictures and lots of them. Nice glossy paper. It would be a heavy book to carry around the whole thing for one hike, I would make notes or copy the pertinent pages to actually carry on a hike. Or even buy two so you can pull one apart to carry and keep the other one pretty. II bought this book to have as a resource to plan Gran Canyon trips and it looks like it will be a worthwhile purchase. I have done a couple of the trips in the book and it looks like the descriptions are accurate and difficulty information is realistic. I own some guidebooks that could get you killed if you took the author completly at his word, but this one seems to give you enough info without spelling out every twist and turn of the trail.

Great book. The author clearly put loads of time in to the compiling of this guide. The pics are great, the VERY lengthy foreword as well as forewarnings is well thought out and there is loads of info in this guide.

Unfortunately, my husband and I are not into multiple day canyoneering trips; however, the authors provide so much information about canyoneering that we were able to obtain lots of helpful information. Also, there are a few trips in this book that can be done in 1 day without ropes or "boats"! The pictures in this book are awesome!

Awesome pics, easy to read, great info, sweet maps, and awesome ideas. He did a great job writing and setting up this great book... I will even buy these for friends! It is a great way to get guys off the couch even... Just let them see the pics and read a few paragraphs and they are in!

A must have book if you are going travel the more obscure canyons and trails. Only one negative, and that is the difficulty in reading the page numbers, they put the numbers in black on a dark background on some pages, annoying, but still an awesome book.

This is a fantastic book with detailed route descriptions, stunning photos and a high level map to help locate them in the Grand Canyon area. There are easily 5 years' worth of canyons to do in this book if one focused a lot of time and energy on it.
