Seller never responded to an inquiry as to what thickness could the bar handle. Similar locks reported 1/2 inch but this was inaccurate with this seller as it could only handle 7/16 of an inch. The other 16th of an inch might as well be a mile if your door is glass.

Perfect For Sliding Glass Doors
I bought this for my skink terrarium, which has two sliding glass doors on its front. This product installed in three minutes and works very well. The keys and lock work smoothly together - no sticking when turning the key, and the lock (when unlocked) slides off the bar without snagging on the bar's teeth. I'd definitely recommend this lock.
