Can I use this in bed as I'm bedbound?

Would be difficult. I use this when I'm sketching in bed. Neetto Adjustable Bed Table, Portable Laptop Standing Desk, Foldable Sofa Breakfast Tray, Notebook Stand Reading Holder for Couch Floor Neetto Adjustable Bed Table, Portable...

Will this be too big (wide) to sit it on a lap tray. This is how I do my diamond art painting. ?

Yes. I use mine on a table, but I think it would fit on your lap. It’s useful as it folds flat too.

Can i use it with a light board for diamond painting ?

Yes I bought the table top to work with my diamond painting

can this be used portrait format please?

It can be put in a number of positions I actually use it for diamond painting in bed because it's light weight but sturdy. You can have it laid down flat or upright with just a slight tilt at its first setting. I'm not sure what you mean about the portrait position because I have just used it tilted slightly back so I don't suffer from back pain being bent over. It obviously is more sturdy sitting on a table top but I use my legs when I'm using this in bed. I have also used it as an ordinary laptop tray to eat breakfast. I hope that this helps answer your question because I'm not sure by what you mean as a portrait positions. At the first setting you will definitely require a clip or something to stop the paper from falling down. I have purchased many tables for my diamond painting and this is by far the best one I have used just love how versatile it is.
