Do you want fries with your hellfire? Sadao Maou, the Devil King, has finally been promoted to store manager! And who should move in next door to his fortress (actually a tiny studio apartment in a dingy walk-up) but a lovely kimono-wearing lass. But the former devil-crushing hero Emi Yusa is none too pleased with this turn of events, to say nothing of high schooler Chiho Sasaki, who's still nursing a terrible crush on the Devil King. Meanwhile a Sentucky Fried Chicken has opened up right across the street from Maou's beloved MgRonald! It's the first real test of his managerial prowess, and he's facing a pay cut unless he can top Sentucky's sales! Between the two new neighbors, the Devil King's troubles are anything but part-time! Review: Continuation of a Good Series. - This light novel just arrived. The novel continues the adventures of Sadao Maou and Emi Yuusa in their [more like her] battle against each other and others. The novel series is Slice of Life with comedy, a hint of romantic tension, and a few "over the top" action scenes. This continues more of what was in the 1st novel and the events of this book are present within the anime so if you can't wait, just go watch that, or if you have watched that then you know what to expect! desertcart shipped the book well this time, but they continue to have problems shipping standalone paperbacks so I would be careful [they do offer returns/refunds with no hassle, but it does become one when you have to return several items in a row because of poor packaging; gas isn't cheap!; in that sense you do lose some money]. The writing, much like most light novels, isn't the best in the world, but I read this series for it's characters which have intrigued me. The world building continues to be good with new characters and factions appearing. Not to mention the "Other-World" which we don't even know much about and will be featured heavily in future novels. Review: Funny, Interesting, And The Beginning of A Thought Provoking Line Of Thinking - This second volume still treads on ground covered by the anime however it provides a few really minor extra moments and character interaction moments that make it a must read. Probably, I would say the internal thoughts of both Maoa, Chiyo, Emi, Suzuno, and such regarding their relationships makes it seem to go beyond what the anime covered. For one who may not have seen the anime this wouldnt matter as because of their thoughts and mannerisms in the novel I think we get to see how everyone is actually pretty human and real. No one is too evil or too good, and it also raises a good question about the character of the "Devil King". Hopefully the next volumes go more into the question this volume finally brought up. Chiyo is an excellent third party to help enhance and develop the cast. Good action, great character interactions even if Ashiya and Urushihara had kind of minor roles (though they still had a few pages worth of dialogue during key arcs), and good comedy. Pick it up.

Too much Hero, not enough Devil.
It's a good story, and funny, but I was consistently bored with Emi's perspective. That might not be the case for everyone, and that's fine.

Great Read!
Otaku John here, the super-fan of Anime, Manga, and Light Novels reviewing another great Light Novel: The Devil Is a Part-Timer. This is a great zany comedy that is very entertaining and a easy quick read. It fits the bill perfectly for any Otaku fan who loves Light Novels, who just plain loves to read! Like all Light Novels, there's a few limited illustrations, which are all excellent and adds to the overall package. I highly recommend it! I also recommend The Devil Is a Part-Timer, Vol. 1 - light novel and all the other Devil is a Part Timer Light Novels by Satoshi Wagahara. Great reads!

Still Good!
Since this is the volume 2 already, so I won't go into a very long review because there is no point of doing it if people already got the first volume. The only reason they are here looking at volume 2 is likely that they already got volume 1. It is still very fun and the story got even more interesting. P.S: The anime end in this episode so I really hope that there is going to be a second season.

Great Continuation of the Light Novel Series
Another great Light Novel volume. As the content covered by the Anime finally reaches my shelves I have to say it was an enjoyable read. The plot remains more or less the same but we have more background to some of the characters and some things that were left out of the anime are properly explained here. I'm really looking forward to the third volume which will finally reach events that weren't covered in the anime.

Just as good as the anime all those years ago
I am so happy that this series has continued to flourish after my younger, stupider self resigned to waiting for a 2nd season of the anime instead of just reading. After comparing the tone of the book to what I remember of the show, the charm is as fresh as ever. I am very excited to finally catch up!

Extremely funny and a good follow on from the first novel
Extremely funny and a good follow on from the first novel. Bought these after watching the anime as there was no second season. Cannot wait for the third one to arrive.

Do you want hellfire with that?
This book is awesome, funny and action packed. Also its humour even I get and I barely get jokes. As a McDonalds employee the scenes feel very familiar and I can laugh about the store manager, because she's the female version of my store manager. I like how the atmosphere of the MgRonalds is light and fun. Very much how my own store is! Great series!

Buena novela :3
