Used for a bug a salt blaster / shreadder
The reason I purchased this was I found out the bug a salt cartridges for their shredder work in this air gun. They want like 129.00 for the bug a salt shredder . I seen that this frame and that one are the same. The shredder does have a bit longer barrel but those salt shooters are only good for a few feet anyway. So, why would I spend 129.00 on a bug a salt shredder that is yellow and orange that only shoots salt ?. I didn’t , I got this and can shoot bb’s , pellets and the salt cartridges. This also looks like a pistol , not a yellow and orange toy. A few things to note , this barrel is steel , the bug a salt is plastic barreled . Salt plus steel / metal = fast rusting. If you use the salt cartridges, I suggest cleaning / oiling this barrel after using , just like a real pistol. If not , it will rust fast , I mean in a few days fast . Keep it cleaned and swabbed if using salt !!! If not , you barrel will rust fast . If having trouble with the salt cartridges not cycling or spinning , first make sure one of the salt holes in lined up with the barrel . If that doesn’t work , I use a small washer or two and insert it before putting in the bug a salt cartridges. I’ve found those cartridges have glue under the paper to hold the salt , sometimes they seem to have to much glue and won’t let the cylinder rotate . Putting in the small washer gives it room to rotate the cylinder and not jam up . I hope this helps anyone who not only wants a great bb / pellet gun but can also have a great bug a salt gun . Believe me , blasting flys , wasps, hornets , yellow jackets , etc with those salt cartridges is more fun than I’ve had since getting the full auto Crosman years ago . One more thing , the replacement bug a salt cartridges for the shredder are about 12.00 for I think 12 cartridges holding 10 salt shot each . They say these are not reusable and you need to buy new cartridges every time . This is not true , several videos on the tube showing you how you can reload them , don’t throw them away … Apologies for the rant about this bug a salt thing but I want everyone to know what other things this co2 pistol can do , you will thank me later , it’s a freaking blast , a mini salt shooting shot gun !!,, Limited to a few feet but no need to worry much about what’s beyond the target . It will tear up some pesky insects !!!!

This gun is top of the line hears why
I have three of these pellet guns .Two from Walmart at $50.00 and one from amazon for much less, $41.99 .They all work perfect .I decided to put the test for power and pellet deviation .The gun was mounted in a vice attached to a heavy steel beam so nothing moves or wiggles ..Targets were placed at different distances . Lasers were installed above and below the gun to assist with calculations . Because the barrel has been riffled its accuracy is exceptional !!! . The pellets group less than 1 inch apart at 40 ft. most of the time. With a drop of 1 in at 50 ft. about 2 in. and at 100 ft. 10 in. drop . I found the 12 gm co2 lasts between 70 and 75 shots . from the first shot to into the mid sixties the drop not change ,that surprised me .All three guns were the same . A test to see if the guns leaked showed they hold the charge when not used for a month . Easy to check that , put the charged gun in a sealed zip-lock 1 gallon baggie push or suck out most of the air and seal .after a given time if the bag does not start to puff up you got a good gun . I found this gun fantastic for price and quality. NOTE if you want to really impress your self and others with your skill stop shooting the way every one else does. No more holding the gun at arms length or with two hands. Purchased a good $20 to $40 green laser ,red is only good at night . If you shoot from the hip holding the gun steady with the other hand keeping your trigger hand tight against your side . Notice how the laser now finds the target much quicker and stays dead on . Now compare the difference .You will never straight arm shoot again , trust me , believe me HERB THE POWERMAN

Initial impressions
Initially unboxing and reading instructions first it’s very nice. Of course prices can always be better we wish but.... Here’s what I see initially and from firing first revolver magazine. -Well balanced (an aluminum frontal/barrel section would’ve been cooler than composite but it’s made well n feels quality) -Accuracy seems excellent thus far at roughly 10 yards, even while not broke-in. -Noise level is acceptable yet seems to grow each shot and now slightly louder than my my pellet rifles. -10-shot revolver magazine’s are a nice plus for a pellet gun and it’s well worth buying an xtra 3-pack of them. -Power/speed both seem good but have not tested neither long distance or actual speeds but other reviews mentioned it improves with use and so far I’m still impressed. -Ease of use is excellent, gun has quality fit-n-finish, came adequately pre-oiled for using out of box but I will buy some more crossman pellgun oil for future maintenance. (Based on initially loading cartridge n doing a dry fire, plenty of oil was in the gun to begin with.) -2 piccatiny mounting areas both above n below are nice and smartly placed (I do wonder how well the barrel stock/front half being composite will hold up over time or if attachments will loosen etc but any gun should always be inspected before and after use.) Bottom line at $55 dollars it still feels an impressive value and nice piece! With that said Con’s wise -Directions have very small print (just to nitpick) and if you intend on actually using out of box the built in front/rear sight’s it is a must they be set like directed in the instructions. Initially I went by feel n relative aim n was pretty close to my mark n after setting spot-on! -The handle stock is straight up run of the mill textured plastic that pops off on either side to access the c02 cartridge. It neither has a real quality feel nor fits my hand that great. More over the backside of grip has what “I feel way too much a bulge right in the meat of your thumb muscle area” It’s as tho it’s bulged or bowed out too much into the palm to be truly comfortable! Changing grip either left my trigger or thumb too far from operations so it’s just the way it is at least for my roughly 7.5” hand... idk maybe next person loves the fit? Overall I’d recommend it, based on descriptions n reviews it totally delivered!

Air gun
Nice target pistol. Would recommend it. Would not recommend it to carry it in the public. Looks too much like a real gun.

Good feel in the hand and fairly accurate.
Despite the too tight safety control bar and hard to release barrel break button that had to be greased and worked repeatedly to get them to operate smoothly, I’m still giving this pistol 5 stars just because it’s fun to shoot and has an adjustable rear sight which definitely increases the accuracy. Bright orange nail polish on the sights made them much more visible. Better results with pellets than BBS. Double action trigger pull is heavy but single action isn’t bad, so if you get good groups with the double action, your accuracy with your real revolvers will benefit. Extra 10 pellet rotary mags are very cheap and you can shoot four of them before your CO2 cartridge starts losing power. Inexpensive way to hone your pistol skills in your backyard or basement with a pellet trap.

Crossman Vigilante
Leaked CO2 right from the beginning . I have bought this product before . The one I bought in the mid 80s was extremely accurate impressive did not leak and was a flawless and function . I had given that to one of my children years ago and wanted to purchase another one for a friend . He was impressed and even put a layer to say on it . I miss my old pistol so I bought one too . The one I purchased a couple of months ago was flawless and did not leak gas even for 3 or 4 weeks . I was so impressed with the gun that I bought a second one for me . The second one was obviously built at a different place and leaked right from the beginning and was very poor . The removable pistol grips where the seal cartridge is contained were totally different on both pistols even though they appear to be identical . this is the third purchase of the same product over the course of almost 40 years . Bring manufacturing back to America ! I gave this purchase a one star but the first purchase 2 months earlier I would have given a four and a half star rating on . The first one is still deadly accurate with the sights and the laser . 1.5 inch groups w/iron sights @ 10 yards using Crossman Piranha pellets ! Average 80 shots per cartridge using Crossman standard was cutters .

THE co2 pellet pistol
Do yourself a favor and buy a few pellet cylinders while you’re at it. I haven’t found anything that comes close to the combination of low cost, adequate pellet velocity, durability and easy of use of this revolver. It’s built of plastic and the grips are hard plastic that feel like they might break when changing the co2 cylinders. Dropping the thing would probably crack the grips. The DA pull is pretty smooth and the SA break is great. This gun is for plinking in the yard and dispatching rats caught in traps. Doesn’t look the best but I painted my first one neon pink so my neighbors don’t worry. I converted my first one into a bug-a-salt knock off for kills wasps under the eaves of my house and it works fine but rusted the barrel. I use glad press and seal and a scalpel to seal the salt where the pellets would go. I also use a needle to poke a tiny hole in each side of the glad which I believe helps with range. It’s a pain in the ass to load salt this way but a lot of fun to take out nesting wasps.
