Description

SynName: Anti -PBEF (Pre-B cell Colony Enhancing Factor, Pre-B cell Enhancing Factor, MGC117256, Nicotinamide Phosphoribosyltransferase, NAmPRTase, NAMPT, Pre-B cell Colony Enhancing Factor 1, PBEF1, Visfatin, VF); PBEF (Pre-B cell Colony Enhancing Factor, Pre-B cell Enhancing Factor, MGC117256, Nicotinamide Phosphoribosyltransferase, NAmPRTase, NAMPT, Pre-B cell Colony Enhancing Factor 1, PBEF1, Visfatin, VF); *AppNotes: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-1:500; *Specificity: Recognizes human NAMPT.Immunogen: Synthetic peptide selected from the Center region of human NAMPT (KLH).; *Storage: May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.; *Accession#: P43490; *Description: NAMPT catalyzes the condensation of nicotinamide with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate to yield nicotinamide mononucleotide, one step in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. The protein is an adipokine that is localized to the bloodstream and has various functions, including the promotion of vascular smooth muscle cell maturation and inhibition of neutrophil apoptosis. It also activates insulin receptor and has insulin-mimetic effects, lowering blood glucose and improving insulin sensitivity. The protein is highly expressed in visceral fat and serum levels of the protein correlate with obesity.; *NCBI Summary: This gene encodes a protein that catalyzes the condensation of nicotinamide with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate to yield nicotinamide mononucleotide, one step in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. The protein belongs to the nicotinic acid phosphoribosyltransferase (NAPRTase) family and is thought to be involved in many important biological processes, including metabolism, stre...
