The only drain cleaner my mom trusts — and now I understand why
This is literally the only thing my mom will put down the drains in her house, and after using it myself, I get it. It works — plain and simple. Slow drains clear up without that harsh chemical burn-your-nostrils smell you get from traditional cleaners, and it doesn’t leave me worrying about what I just poured into the plumbing. What I appreciate most is that Green Gobbler feels like a more environmentally considerate option compared to heavy-duty products like bleach or lye-based cleaners. It still gets the job done, but without that “I-hope-this-doesn’t-destroy-everything” anxiety. That peace of mind matters, especially if you’re using it more than once a year. It’s also straightforward to use and doesn’t require a ton of product — which makes it feel efficient rather than wasteful. I’ve used it as a preventative as well as for minor clogs, and it’s been reliable every time. If you want something effective that doesn’t rely on the harshest chemicals out there, this is a solid, trustworthy choice — and clearly one that’s earned long-term loyalty in our household.

Saves the day - convenient and powerful - but super stinky!!
I purchased the Green Gobbler Drain Clog Remover & Drain Cleaner Powder (5 Pacs & 5 Tools). All I can say is that this has saved my life several times when the bath drain was completely clogged with hair. It works within 30 minutes. I love the separate bags for one-time use - very convenient and powerful. However, the smell is also powerful and extremely awful - rotten eggs. The smell doesn't go away for a long time, even with an air purifier in the bathroom. But for me it's worth it because I live alone and it works every time and is so convenient and reasonably priced - much cheaper than a plumber!

Works great
These work perfectly for what they are intended. Make sure the drain does not have a stopper in place (remove it if you have one) before you begin with the powder. The plastic pieces remove hair easily. A good value.

Don't let the negative reviews scare you -- this really does work
This really does a spectacular job of cleaning drains, as long as the clog is caused by the normal gunk that accumulates in the pipes. If you have a clog caused by tree roots, or if you pour grease down the drain (NEVER A GOOD IDEA), you need to get a plumber or a roto-rooter. That said, the directions could be a little better. What they tell you to do is correct. However, if you have a drain that drains slowly, but still drains, you need to do a little more than the directions say to do. Otherwise the crystals will just sit there in a pile at the top of the drain, damaging the fitting and the sink and not getting down into the pipe where the clog is. I can only assume that with standing water, they would dissolve and start working on the clog without these extra steps. But I had an issue with a slow-draining clog. I solved it by doing the following: 1. Using a long screwdriver and needle-nose pliers I pulled out as much hair and gunk at the top of the drain as I could. (There are crossbars at the top of the pipe so the hair remover that came with the Green Gobbler didn't fit. Otherwise I would have used that.) 2. Having made a small space without gunk, I poured about a tablespoons of Green Gobbler in -- just enough to come up a little over the top of the drain. 3. Next I slowly poured water on the crystals until they started to dissolve and go down. At this point I could tell it was already starting to work by the smell. Whew! 4. I repeated step 3 over and over until I was finally able to get the entire PAC of crystal down into the drain. This took a lot of patience, but it was worth it. 5. Once the entire PAC was in the drain, I poured just enough water to remove any crystals that might be still sitting in the sink itself or on the drain fitting. And to be safe, I wiped it all off with a paper towel. 6. After a half hour, I poured a quart of boiling water down the drain. 7. At this point the drain was much better, but still needed some more work. So I repeated the steps above with a second PAC of Green Gobbler. This time it only took me three pours to get all the crystal down into the pipe. 8. After pouring another quart of hot water down (following a 30 minute wait), the water went down the drain freely. The smell was completely gone and the pipe/drain itself looked sparkly clean. Hope this helps anyone who has reservations about whether this product actually works and is worth the money. Definitely! I just ordered a half-gallon so that I can use this to keep all of our drains free of clogs.

Worked fine in the bathroom but in the kitchen, I'm still working on it.

Very Good Investment
I recommend these. A Plummer introduced a similar product and I found these a few years ago. They really do the job of keeping the pipes clear and open.

Saved my 100-year-old home's drains – worth every penny!
Living in a 100-year-old house means we deal with occasional clogs, especially since my whole family has long, thick hair that loves to team up in the drains. I've tried various drain cleaners over the years, but Green Gobbler Drain Opening PACs really delivered when I needed it most.I started with a slow-draining sink and dumped a small amount in there, then used the rest of the pack (about 90% of it) on our tub, which was barely draining at all. I only waited about 5 minutes at first, and honestly, it seemed like the tub clog got worse temporarily – the water backed up more. But after reading the directions properly (always a good idea!), I learned to let it sit for a full 30 minutes before flushing with hot water. When I came back and tried running hot water, nothing happened at first. I grabbed a plunger and gave it a solid 2 minutes of effort – suddenly, a big bubble popped up, there was a loud gurgle, and the water started draining fast like magic. Whatever massive hair-and-gunk combo was down there finally broke loose, and now both the tub and sink drain beautifully – faster than they have in months! This product tackled a really stubborn clog that had been building up, and it did the job without harsh fumes or damaging anything (important in an older home). Super easy to use with the pre-measured pacs – no mess, no measuring. Highly recommend for anyone battling hair clogs or slow drains. Green Gobbler is now a staple in our bathroom cabinet! 5 stars!
