It does leak sometimes. I have occasionally had a puddle of water on the floor. If I toggle it open and closed I can get it to stop.

Is the spigot detachable such that we can remove it for easy packing during travel by car?

What worries me here is that even if the spigot is removable, you couldn't remove it while the bottle is full, which also happens to be when you'd be at the most risk for accidentally breaking it off, because of the weight of all of the water. Seems awfully risky.

Currently, resin identification code “7” is for “other” resins that are not defined by codes 1 through 6. Thus, a number of unrelated plastics can carry a code 7, including Tritan, polycarbonate, nylon and even the newer bio-plastics.
