Snowflake obsidian is an extrusive igneous rock that forms from volcanic lava. The traditionally black rock is speckled with white 'snowflakes' that are actually small, white needle-shaped crystals that form in a circular pattern as the rock breaks down over time. Each sphere is 40mm (1.58 inches) in diameter and includes a footed nickel stand. The spheres shown in the image are for example only. You will receive one that is similar but because of the natural variations in rocks, each sphere will be slightly different.
