My PS2 went from Fugly on my HDTV to Crisp
These cables are Mandatory in my opinion if you're going to play a ps2 on an HDTV. With even high quality S Video/Red and whites (oxygen free wrapped too no less) my ps2 on my samsung high def screen looked Terrible. I could barely read the text on the screen, the colors were muted, and overall the picture was muddy. I bought these cables hoping to correct the issue, and they worked beautifully. The PS2 now looks better than it ever did which is great for when I start getting retro game cravings. I don't know yet what I'm going to do about some of my other older consoles (other than continually buy game collections for my 360 and PS2?) but this was a much needed, and much appreciated product. Just plug them in, and you're off to the races. Double check to make sure you're setup for component cables in the systems configuration. (mine changed automatically) The monitor is only a couple of years old. So these cables WILL work (despite misinformed reviews to the contrary) on newer monitors. Ace Combat 5 went from muddy with nigh unreadable text to very sharp, very clear overall picture quality and perfect text clarity. I'll be testing some of my other games later. But these cables are easily worth the money spent.

Works fine once PS2 output type is changed via configuration settings
Must change PS2 output to Pb/Pr/Y before using. That means connecting up some other output first, like composite, in order to be able to get into the menus. Once done, output looks good (for what a PS2 and component can do, at least)

Old school gaming now in SD!
I am very glad I got this! If you want your Playstation 2 games to look their best, then you should definitely look into getting these! Provided you have a TV that has support for component video. If you're dying to play some old school Playstation 2 classics on your modern HDTV but are turned off by the dated, blurry look of composite video, then this cable is definitely the way to go! You have the three standard video jacks which are coloured Red, Green, and Blue along with the audio jacks which are coloured Red and White. This is the reason for the two Red jacks, which might be confusing for some. Also, the cable is a little difficult to stick into the PS2, but once it's in there, it's pretty secure and takes a pretty good amount of force to pull out. So there's almost no chance that it'll accidentally come loose. Another thing is while the cable itself may be inexpensive, it does NOT feel cheap. it feels like a very high quality cable the likes of Sony would probably release themselves. The only downside is that this cable is shorter than the original composite cable. Once you have everything plugged in, if you've put everything in their rightful places, you will be greeted with the standard PS2 bootup screen. If it's not already set for component video, you'll want to head into System Configuration before starting any games and make sure you set the PS2 on Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr instead of RGB. After that, you can begin playing your games! Images look much sharper and more colourful compared to the standard Red, White, and Yellow A/V cable. Especially on modern TVs. The whole thing makes your games look much better, although you might have to finagle with game options before you get around to playing anything. I've only tested out a few games so far and I've noticed quite a few of the early PS2 titles look quite dated. That said, if you don't mind your old games looking...well, old, then I highly recommend picking up this cable! You can't go wrong!

Works Great, Read on...
First off I want to say SLOOOOWWWW Shipping, These guys need to do a better job at getting their product delivered faster. Anyways after I had purchased my cable I read some of the reviews stating that this cable does not work with tv's that have a Y PB PR Component connection, as I did not know that component had 2 different types of Signal, (one is analog one is digital) If you do not know what I'm talking about google it. So After I had made my purchase reviews were kinda mixed saying it works on Y PB PR and it doesn't as some said. People were stating that this cable Only works with Y CB CR connections, well I have a LCD TV from 2008 made by samsung, The back of the TV clearly states Y PB PR near the component connection. I plugged in my cable and it worked accordingly after setting the proper Video selection in the playstation 2 options menu. I do have to say though my Samsung 32in LCD does accept both forms of the component (digital and analog) and thats probably why it worked, After doing some research not all tvs support both forms of component signals as some of the newer tvs support just the digital which is Y PB PR, But check with your TV to see if it supports both types and you should be good to go. All I did was go to my manufactures website and look to see what resolutions my tv supported, It accepts 480p on the component and hdmi connections so there for it worked. I hope this review can help someone out as these are great cables, you will notice a difference in quality, Words will be more sharper and picture quality more crisp.

Terrible quality control - if you get sound but not video, your cable is probably bad
I bought this cable a year and a half ago so that I could use my old PS2 with my high-def TV. I read a couple of reviews saying that the cable didn't always work with new TV's, so I took a five-dollar gamble. I got the cable, hooked it up (and remembered to change the PS2 video output to Y/Cb/Cr from RGB) and all I got was the sound. So, I figured I'd lost my five bucks and tossed the cable in a drawer. However, I'm stubborn, and yesterday I decided to give it another shot (maybe I'd missed a setting in the TV?). No joy still, but then for some reason I decided to test the cable for continuity between the RCA plugs and the PS2 plug with a pinout as reference. Turns out the audio cables were fine, but all three of the video cables were not. I was annoyed, since I was well outside the return window. But, I decided to see if I could rig it. Disassembling the thing revealed that the fault was in the plugs themselves, so I cut them off and rewired plugs from an old RCA cable. I checked everything for continuity and it was good, so I plugged it into the PS2. To my genuine surprise, it worked and I now have a decent picture from a 10-ish year old console. The one-star is for the shoddy quality control, and poor quality in general - the sacrificial cable that gave me my replacement plugs was also a cheap no-name, but it had three times the copper wire strands for both the core and ground as this one. I suggest you go with another brand, and if you get a cable that only gives sound (and you've checked the PS2's output setting) you likely just have a bad cable.

Essential for PS2 owners with HDTVs, but do your research.
Works as advertised, have had no difficulty setting it up. However, the one-star reviews are either people who don't know how to enter a configuration screen or who don't like the aliasing component cables create. Which is sad, since I'd personally rather deal with a little pixelation with the 3d models than barely be able to see or read what the heck I'm playing (looking at you A/V cables.) If you have a CRT TV then these won't do you any good, instead get S-Video. But if you have a PS2 and lack a CRT (or don't have room for one) then this is essential. NOTE(S): This does NOT provide you with HDMI quality, but rather makes the image a whole lot sharper. For comparison, it's similar fidelity to emulating PS2 games at native resolution (but slightly better since emulation is rather meh). Most ps2 games still run at 480i, however if it is progressive scan compatablie then you must hold the triangle and X buttons on startup in order to play it at 480p (which looks better to be honest.) Also, PS1 games are rendered incompatable with most HDTV sets (including mine), so switch to composite for those. This is just basic retro gaming 101, but if the games are 4:3 only and you are seeing a 16:9 image, then go into your TV settings and switch it to 4:3 to get a non-distorted image (which adds black bars to the left and right sides, but again this is basic SD to HD image knowledge.)

Good Quality
Quality cable. Not sure why all the bad reviews. cable its a little shorter than original ps2 but provides much better clarity than the stock.

Don't part with your Playstation 2 just yet!
I've been collecting a lot of Ps2 games as of late, since they're downright dirt-cheap. As my collection continues to grow, I've been finding myself wanting to play a lot of them that I never had a chance to experience when I was younger. I hooked up my Ps2 to my new HD TV as was extremely put off by how washed out the colors looked through the typical RCA cords I used in the SD era of televisions. The more time I spent using RCA cables with my Ps2 titles, the more I found myself unable to accept this type of quality. I was ready to go back to an SD TV for this console as the image quality was just far superior-- until I found out that the Ps2 was in fact capable of a 480i image. I was skeptical of the quality these cords would provide as I know the Ps2 is not a HD console and never could be, no matter how much fooling around you do. As these cords are cheap, I bit the bullet. I made sure my console was set to accept these component cables from within the settings menu, before unplugging the RCA cables-- once I hooked up the component cords to my TV, my jaw hit the floor. The picture quality was crystal clear and the colors popped significantly. If you're on the fence about trying this, do it! They will work brilliantly. Just ensure to adjust the settings in the Ps2 system configuration to ensure these work correctly. You won't see a picture at all unless you do. There is no reason to consider parting with this console or settling for an SD TV; the Ps2 can sit proudly in the same entertainment center as your current HD consoles. Now if only those HD consoles could have a library like the Ps2-- I would die happy.

10/10 Must have for HDTVs
The difference between these component cables and the regular AV cables is night and day! The image is now crystal sharp in comparison to previously, and I can actually read words on the screen without getting a headache. Absolutely worth the buy if you're running an HDTV, and they shipped super fast too!
