Perfect for stretching your calfs and lower leg
I first got into using a slant board for this stretch when I went to physical therapy after back surgery. I had always done this lower leg stretch after running with both my feet planted level on the ground. My PT therapist had a slant board, and so I understood just how effective it can be to use a slant board instead of what I had been doing. I've wanted to buy one of these, but the price of the wooden ones is just too much money for me. I came across this item while browsing Amazon and decided that the price was right and that I'd give it a try. In short, this is a perfect slant board for a lower leg stretch. Yes, it's only a black foam slab cut on a bias, but it supports my body just fine and doesn't break or become misshapen. I think this product will be very durable and I can't imagine it not lasting for at least a few years, if not longer. While you get two slant boards with this product, I'm only using one. The picture shows this product to be a bit narrower than it is in reality. I position the slant board about 2 feet away from the wall, put both feet on it, and then lean forward, using the wall as support. You can immediately feel the stretch in your lower leg. I do three sets of 30 seconds each. The product stores easily and is as light as a feather. If you're a runner or need physical therapy that includes this stretch, consider this product. This is one of those times when less expensive is actually better! I'm not sure how this would hold up to day-in and day-out use in a commercial setting like a physical therapist's office, but for an individual or family, this is an excellent product that does the job at a very affordable price. There are no instructions that come with it, and I'm not aware of any other use for it other than this stretch. If you live in a small apartment, storage might be an issue you need to think about. If, however, you have the room to put it away after each use, it is ideal for its purpose. Highly recommended.

Great for doing your PT exercises (or just stretching in general)
So simple, yet it provides such a better stretch to the calf muscles than anything else I've tried without it.While I previously thought O was stretching my calf muscles, after using this one time I realized how wrong I was. Using these *really* stretches the calf. And it feels awesome! The foam is comfortable to step on, even in bare feet. And it compresses slightly which is useful (makes it a little more comfortable). I have not had a problem with my foot slipping off as another reviewer has commented. Initially it does seem a bit pricey for what they are... but they have worked far better than anything else I tried. That makes it worth the price. They have greatly helped me doing my PT exercises for my Patellar Tendonitis. I was also starting to have a problem with plantar fasciitis (on the same side as my bad knee) which disappeared after a day or two of using this. It's amazing the havoc a couple of overly tight muscles do to all the things around them.

Helpful stretching tool that makes an impression & attracts fuzz
These slants are great. I have overly tight Achilles tendons and am supposed to stretch them out every am and pm. I was originally focused on getting some hard surface slants to use but cost was prohibitive so settled on these. They're made out of hard styrofoam which is both good and bad. Good: the surface "gives" a little which as with any stretch is actually beneficial because it can help prevent accidental injury. Bad: my foot leaves an impression on the foam so the aforementioned "give" means the incline for the stretch is lessening instead of increasing - so I stretch for 10-15 sec on one side of the slant then move to the other side for another 10-15 sec (which it's wide enough to accommodate). And miscellaneous notes: I leave this by my bed, up against the wall and next to a door, so I'm reminded to stretch when getting up and before doing to sleep, and I can get leverage by holding onto the doorway. OH - and if you have pets that shed, this thing collects it BIG TIME. As well as lint, fuzz, threads, etc. Doesn't bother me - affects nothing but the appearance - but I can see how it might be a tad annoying for some folk.

and I thought this looked like a great way to do that
I bought this product to help stretch out my calves before exercising. My physical therapist suggested I stretch a lot more before and after running, and I thought this looked like a great way to do that. She showed me another way to stretch against a floor board, but I didn't think it worked well and don't care to dirty my white floor boards. The OPTP slant works fantastic. They're lightweight, so easy to move and give a great stretch. I prop then next to my TV, so they're convenient to set up and use while watching TV prior to my workout. The material seems flimsy, but mine have held up good. And lastly, the price couldn't be beat compared to others for sale.

This wedge is lightweight and so easy to use
I can actually put 2 feet on this wedge. It does a terrific job of stretching out my Achilles tendon which I need to do every single day. I put it in the kitchen right in front of my coffee machine.

They Help
You probably have to have a collision of foot issues to get to where these show up in your search for "cures". If there is a universal cure for foot pain, I haven't found it. In my case I have what presents as plantar factitious and outside edge of foot and ankle symptoms. The genesis of my issues stems from car versus person; the person loses every time. My leg had a compound fracture and my ankle exploded. It's a permanent situation. My leg is also shorter due to surgeries and bone loss. So...I wear lifts and try to find good shoes. I use sole inserts. I wear a great ankle support that I found here on Amazon. You will find that some of your issue is in your foot; some in your ankle and some in your Achilles tendon. In my case, when stressed or not stretched, my ankle goes into "shock": spurs, ligaments and tendons get so inflamed that all you can do is take it easy and...stretch with common sense. That's where these simple slant pads come in. When I'm in this acute stage, I stand on them and gently stretch with focus on the Achilles Tendon. If you can get this stretched and calmed down, everything else seems to follow suit. I use these in the morning as needed and the night before bed as needed. Because of all the injury I have, I also get back issues. Stretching with these before bed has helped those issues and helped me get to sleep. So whatever the theory and practice really is behind these; the way I've adapted them to my situation has really relieved symptoms when I need it to and it really doesn't take long.

Good for patellar tendinitis.
I have patellar tendinitis and use this slant foam to try to strengthen my left knee. I stand on this with my toes pointed down and the knee with pain and gradually lower myself down and back up. By standing slanted down puts more pressure on the patellar tendon so it will strengthen that part more than doing it on flat ground. I do 4 sets of 10 reps every night and can honestly say my knee does not hurt as much as the first time I did this exercise. I have been doing it for two weeks and will continue to do them. Your feet will leave an indentation on the foam but it will regain its shape after a couple of hours. Great item for the price.

Foam Softens
I think these slants are made with a different material than what others reviewed since it did not pill or flake off when I opened the package. The first few times I used them, they were nice and firm, so I was very pleased. However, with repeated use, the foam has started to soften, and no longer have the same supportive feel under my feet as when they were new. Given that I've only had them for a couple weeks, I'm not optimistic about their long-term usefulness.

Was expecting yoga block foam (ie firm)
Was expecting yoga block foam (ie firm). My feet sink into these blocks with body weight only, they are soft-ish foam. Adding weight for squats, etc is totally out of the question. Note - I am close to 200 lbs. YMMV.
