Review: Five Stars - Very useful review Review: Good format; some chapters better than others - I like the format of this book for quick review. However, there were some errors in it, despite the 'updated' version (why are they still talking about droperidol???). But, I think the key to this book is that some chapters really had good, high-yield facts, and some chapters were terrible with overly wordy explanations and seemingly random tidbits that didn't feel particularly high-yield. In particular, the neurology chapter (which should be a priority!) and the HIV chapters didn't feel very helpful. But, if you use this for a quick, not too intense review just before the exam after using more solid books, I think it can be useful.

Psychiatry Board Review is a wonderful textbook to help prepare for the psychiatry boards. The book is well organized and easy to read. It is full of useful information that you may find on your psychiatry boards. I give it 5 stars. By Gregg L. Friedman MD, Psychiatrist, Hallandale Beach, FL

Not what I expected.
The book has a large number of questions; however, many of the questions are duplicated. It appears there were a number of contributors and not a lot of collaboration/communication to avoid duplication. I did not like the question style as I prefer multiple choice format with explanations compared to the general questions followed by the answer/explanation as with this publication.

Worth a purchase
This board review book is well written. All of it's contents are high yield. The Q&A format of the book, and it's layout reinforce some of the major points. While the book contains a lot of useful information, it is a rather enjoyable and quick read. This review book is nice and simplified and should help streamline your studying.

Too many errors!!
In theory, this book is a good idea, but it has WAY TOO MANY typographical and informational errors to be even considered remotely helpful as a review book! I am constantly finding myself to double check the information presented as my knowledge is superior than the book. I would not recommend this book as a review source - especially since this was 3rd edition book - its extremely surprising and quite sad that this book is still in circulation!
