I see in the reviews that the hammock now comes with straps. Can anyone clarify if it has rope or straps?

No, this hammock doesn't come with straps. But it does come with rope to hang it. The benefit of getting the optional straps is that you wouldn't have to tie any knots, but the ropes work great too.

does this zip shut? to close it off from the outdoors?

No it doesn't have any way of closing, though there are attachments that you can buy that go over it. If you are skinny there is enough fabric that it will go all the way around you and appear closed.

Is it machine washable

Yes, you can machine wash it in cold water on a gentile spin cycle. Hang dry immediately. The fabric has enhanced resistance to bleeding, but, as with any dyed nylon, the colors will bleed slightly if left wet for long enough.

What is the weight limit of the single size?

The weight limit is 400 pounds.
