This double boiler has done a good job for me. When I unpacked it, I thought, "Oops. I thought I'd ordered a smaller one." As it turns out, it's a good size for making custard for Gelato. I do wish I had a smaller one for tempering chocolate as the candy thermometer doesn't get deep enough into the chocolate. I've looked at the ones that have a stainless bowl that rides on top of the pot but I'd worry that the water in the pot might splash into the bowl or the steam could cause the chocolate to seize. That lip that keep the upper pot stabile might be a bit harder to clean but it insures that the water stays in the lower pot.

I love this thing. I purchased this double boiler because of its price and that it looked well made. I did not want to spend a lot for the purpose of this double boiler was to help render down pine pitch to make pine pitch resin salves. A very sticky adventure for sure. However, I have used this double boiler twice now in making two twenty 2 oz tins of pine pitch salve and the double boiler has well more than performed. It is not spotless after this use but much much greater than I expected. It is not flimsy and is well made. It comes with a the two parts for a double boiler and a glass lid as well. I will definitely purchase this double boiler again when I produce a different type of salve that does not require pine pitch.

I don’t use a double broiler much so I figured I could just grab a cheap one. Talk about flimsy and light!! I feel like I’ll dent it if I set it down on the counter too hard. However, it will be perfect for doing candle making or other crafts in and I won’t have to worry I may be ruining an expensive nice pan. So it works for what I need it to.

This is exactly as advertised. It is very lightweight. But given what I have planned to use it for it should be more than adequate.

I purchased this product to melt oils in. It’s easy to use and clean-minimal stickiness. The size is suitable for medium to large projects, I suggest using something smaller for smaller melts. (Duh I know) Functionality was straight forward, sometimes the curves in the top pot catch more liquid than desired when poured - it’s shaped awkwardly so make sure you get everything scraped out. Sometimes stainless steel heats up extremely fast yet this one heats evenly and at a normal speed. The only thing I dislike is when cleaning the lid, water gets trapped under the handle and it’s hard to get rid of/dry. Other than that it’s 10/10!!

The product is not quite what I expected. The combined capacity of both pots in the double boiler is 2.5 quarts - the cooking capacity (top pot) is about one quart (liter). Also, the steel is quite thin, so it is also light weight to work with. It just strikes me as a stereo-typically cheap pan from a Chinese manufacturer. That said, it will do what I need it to (melt wax) over low to medium heat, but I would be wary about using it for regular food preparation because of concerns about the quality of the steel, but cheaply manufactured does not necessarily mean the steel quality is poor. The glass lid is nice and should not shatter at the temperatures I will be using.

Great price and it works perfectly for what I want to do, melting chocolate for cakes, gelatin to make gummies.

Great item for a display window. So nice looking I have just used it now the first time. The diameter is 8 inches - I was hoping smaller, but not a deal breaker. After the first use I noticed patchy light blue discolouration in the top (food ) pot. Possibly this is some sort of metal tarnish due to salt in the food? It doesn't rub off. Other than that, which doesn't bother me, it's perfect (so far) .And it appears to be the only double boiler available... .

Bought for my Chefy son. He absolutely loves it. Perfect size and beautifully balanced. Works exactly as it should.
