No this is a humidifier that increases humidity. You need a dehumidifier to remove damp and prevent mould.

Does the warm system boil the water before expelling it?

I can’t remember what the manual said about heating the water, but it is only warmer than the normal mist, not hot. It takes about 20 minutes to feel any difference in temperature coming out.
