Show me the 8 year old that could build this unassisted... the directions were very unclear, missing instructions. The description says voice activated- there is no voice activated component. All it does (once I finally figured out how to put it together) is just move up and down.

I ordered the Giggleway STEM Robotics Kit for my 10-year-old, who loves building things and interactive toys. From the moment we opened the box, we were both excited to dive in. The kit is well-organized, with clear instructions that make it easy to follow along step by step. Building the robot has been a great way for us to spend quality one-on-one time together while learning about robotics and voice-controlled technology. My child is thrilled to see the robot respond to commands, and I love how the kit encourages problem-solving and creativity. Overall, this is a fantastic STEM kit that combines fun, learning, and family bonding. Highly recommend for kids in the 8–12 age range who enjoy hands-on projects.

Instructions were extremely hard to read and interpret pictures were very small. And hard to see. The screwdriver was not magnetic, so the screws are so small that it makes it very difficult to hold it and put it together Robot does not walk. It only dances. I put this together with my son.Who's ten?And it was extremely difficult because of how small it was. The head won't stay on. It took us several hours to put it together. He is still happy with the results of the dancing robot. So we're keeping him.

I'm pretty convinced that most of the people that wrote the reviews here (that I read), didn't actually put this together... Or watched their child put it together in less than an hour... Half of them just reworded the product description. Useless. I'll preface this by saying I'm an engineer. I got this to expose my son to STEM related things, though he's much too young for this project, so I did this myself as he helped where he could. I do think the suggested age range is about right. I've got a few issues with this kit, but I'll start with the good stuff first. - all the pieces fit together well. Good laser cutting. - good intro into engineering topics for kids. Requires attention to detail and patience. - don't have to deal with stickers to decorate it. - good price for what you get Now the things I wasn't a fan of: - the "voice control" or voice activation is non existent. It does the exact same thing when you turn it on, whether you speak or otherwise make noise, or sit in complete silence. It cycles through the motor activating and shuffling forward while moving the arms for about 10 seconds, stops for about 5 then repeats until you turn it off. - the instructions were not good. They are very small and not well written. There's several gaps in the instructions where you need to figure it out (mostly minor and not too difficult). They do have small example pics at most of the big steps, but you'll probably need a magnifying glass. - the wires that connect to the motor need to be stripped at the ends; this probably should've been pre-done as kids might not know how to do this or have a tool to do it. - the parts take a good amount of time to get broken out of the cutouts... Which is fine, but a lot of time is spent trying to make sure you don't accidentally break a part popping it out, because the whole thing is basically what feels like a thin sheet of balsa wood, but maybe a little harder. Regardless, it feels like it would be very easy to accidentally break something, so you take extra time to make sure you don't. At the price it's at it's very reasonable. It provides a nice challenge for kids and when done they'll have a cool looking little robot to display and show their friends. The only thing that really bothered me when I was done was the voice control not working (possibly not existing)... And I'm not expecting it to respond to actual commands like stop or go. I assumed it has something that just picks up noise at a certain decibel level and then activates, but it just seems to have an on/off switch.

Please don’t buy this. There is absolutely no way my 8 year old could put this together. I am 40 and was only able to assemble it wrong with none of the mechanical aspects functioning. I had to use my magnifying glass and hot glue gun as there was no way the wires were going to stay put on their own.

This kit is an excellent project for any young science enthusiast, and my son and I really enjoyed working on it together. Why I Recommend It: Interesting Design: The wooden, laser-cut design gives the robot a really cool, retro-futuristic look. I appreciate that the graphics are directly printed on the wood and aren't just stickers, which adds to the quality feel and durability. The fact that it's voice-controlled is a major highlight and makes the final product more interactive. Fun Building Experience: Putting this together with my son was a great bonding experience. The instructions were clear, and it provided a good hands-on introduction to STEM learning and basic robotics concepts. It was challenging enough to be engaging for his age but not overly frustrating. A Note on Assembly: Be aware that some of the wooden parts can be a little brittle. While most of the pieces are high-quality, we had to be careful when separating and assembling the smaller components to prevent any accidental breaks. Just take your time and supervise younger kids closely. Also, instructions manual is not always clear so check it twice! Overall, it's a great, educational, and engaging kit. A perfect gift for kids aged 8-12!

We've had other projects from this manufacturer with no problem. The motor on this one won't work, and the instructions are poorly written, tiny and not clear.
