Chikan is a traditional embroidery style from Lucknow, India. Literally translated the word Chikan means embroidery. The technique of creation of chikan work is known as chikankari. Chikan is delicate & artfully done hand embroidery on a variety of textile fabric like cotton, muslin, silk, chiffon, organza, net, etc. White thread is embroidered on cool, pastel shades of light muslin & cotton garments. Nowadays chikan embroidery is also done with coloured & silk threads in different colors to meet the recent fashion trends. Chikankari or Chikan work in the recent times has also adapted additional embellishments like Mukaish, Kamdani, Badla, Kamdani, bead & mirror work, which gives it a rich look. The piece begins with the use of one or more pattern blocks that are used to block-print a pattern on the ground fabric. The embroiderer then stitches the pattern, & the finished piece is carefully washed to remove all traces of the printed pattern. Process of Chikankari includes following steps: Design Engraving Block printing Embroidery Washing & finishing. Look charming & graceful in this gorgeous cotton stylish kurti. Best summer top
Love, love, love this tunic - waiting anxiously for two more in colors I want! This brand has the best quality for the best price, hands down!I love this tunic so much that I just bought three more in other colors. The cotton is very fine and lightweight, with lovely embroidery. The fit is perfect. I washed it in the machine on "hand wash" and dried it in the dryer on medium. It was dry in 20 minutes. It only shrank a tiny bit...maybe half a size, not enough to make a difference, for me anyway. I did buy one size larger than I would normally buy because I am always wary of all cotton products tendency to shrink. So that would be my recommendation...one size larger. It is so comfortable. It's almost like having nothing on. It's lovely in warm weather. It is sheer, so except for the black one, I would recommend wearing tights underneath like the girl in the photo.
