I don’t think it matters which way you install it as long as it’s under the water line

How do you get the heater to actually heat? I’ve adjusted the set temperature to 70, the water is reading as 69, but the blue light never comes on.

A deviation of +/- 2 degrees can occur on any heater. Make sure that the heater is located next to flowing water and that your separate thermometer is placed on the other end of the tank.

Terrible experience

First one that came didn't work, but at least looked good :) . I asked for replacement. Second one came completely broken. Sent it back, requested money

Ok for smaller tanks, but dont try to place controller inside cabinet...

This heater work, but they are about 1* off on the actual temp, also the cord to the control is quite short.

The heater worked but would allow for swings in temperature of six to eight degrees. I purchased a 300W for a 29 gallon tank so one could make the argument that once the heater turned on it shot the water temp up so fast that when it self regulated and turned off the element was still hot and raising the temperature. However, most frustrating was when water temp was reading much lower than the setting but the heater would not turn on. Learned my lesson and will go with heaters with warranty in the future.
