HT5009

I bought those as a replacement for my HT4189 (previous model) that worked really well. There are a few improvements, but nothing that I needed. Build is good as before, the sound is good, virtually no lag and when listening to music, impressive sound quality. Although I am used to the system, I couldn't to get it to work initially. I connect the optical output of my TV to the avantree emitter and is is simple enough, but I didn't hear anything through the headphone. I contacted Avantree support through chat, and the second question I was asked was whether I had connected the optical input to the right connector in the Avantree emitter, and I hadn't. The mistake can easily be made though so beware. However this was sorted in no time and their support is brilliant. Update on 15 September 2024. I bought a new pair, the previous one solidly worked for 5 years knowing that I used it probably 320 days a year. The battery ended up not charging anymore and it's probably partially my fault: rather than running out of juice, I probably charged it too often. I received a new pair, I like the fact that it was modernised: - direct on / off button - Micro-USB plug to USB-C plug for charging - same for power from a USB-A socket. I am definitely a fan, this is probably my 4th or 5th pair from Avantree, some are for my computer mostly but also the phone or a tablet. Customer service has also served me well, so they deserve recognition, I am adding a star. Thanks guys

Wireless headphones are amazing for my husband, who is hard of hearing, watching the television has made a world of difference for him, and the sound quality is brilliant. We had a slight problem with the charging of the battery, but our contact Janice, has been so helpful, we had instant e.mails from her, and the quick response is excellent, replacing the item with no problem. Thank you so much Janice at Avantree.

My wife has a hearing problem, - particularly as far as the tv is concerned, so we ordered this as a possible solution. It arrived the same evening we ordered it, and it was quick and easy to set up. Sound quality was great, and there was no lag in speech that I could detect. We thought we had found the solution! However, after an hour or so of use, my wife complained that the over the ear headphones were uncomfortable to wear for long periods, so we very reluctantly packed it all up and sent it back. It's down to you to decide if the headphones are right for you. In the meantime we are looking at all the options from the same manufacturer as we were very impressed with the set-up.

Having invested in a pretty expensive high end television last year. I thought that fixing it up with Bluetooth headphones would be easy and cheap. Sadly it wasn't! I bought and tried a couple of inexpensive transmitters (including one from Avantree) but always found that despite "low latency" claims the lip-sync was tedious and uncomfortable. My new television was bought with sound quality in mind but because I have a mild hearing impairment I was always going to look for flexible sound Bluetooth headphones for me whilst my wife enjoyed the TV speakers. Things were so bad that I'd even resorted to wired headphone! Fed up with the trailing cable, I recently decided to look again at Bluetooth and did considerable research before choosing the Avantree HT5009. This is a quality item that works right out of the box. The fact that Avantree have matched the headphones to the transmitter themselves eliminates pairing issues but most importantly the lip-sync is pretty much perfect! Furthermore, if my lovely (rather younger) wife ever gets a tiny bit hard of hearing, I can easily add a second set of headphones! Seriously, I paid close on a hundred pounds but its enhanced my enjoyment of television to a value well beyond what I've paid.

Absolutely brilliant - and very reasonably priced - addition to my TV sound system which already has a sound bar and woofer fed by my LG smart TV’s Optical Out port. To maintain independence of the sound bar and the Bluetooth headphones, I satisfactorily used an optical splitter to split the feed. The pairing of the headphones and the transmitter (with its 5V supply taken from a spare USB port on the TV) was trouble free but the “OPT” light on the base station initially flashed and there was no audio. This was quickly remedied by switching the TV audio o/p to PCM from Auto. The quality of sound in the headphones was superb, with the dialogue easily heard as well as the base end for music. There is zero latency. To start with the headphones were too loud so I tried pressing the minus (-) end of the volume control on them with no effect, so I at first thought they were defective. Please note however that my research showed that you must ‘DAB’ the “-“ or “+” repeatedly to lower or raise the sound level in the cans. If you press them continuously, nothing will happen. This is not mentioned in the Instructions. Note to the (US) manufacturer: It would be nice to have a Mute button on the headphones for the annoying ad breaks.

Easy to setup and worked straight away. The sound is good and clear with plenty of adjustable volume, which I need being heard of hearing. I can listen to the TV at my preferred level while my wife can listen at her own level. No external interference experienced at all, not even from the Amazon Firestick. I used a LINKFOR 1x3 optical splitter from my TV with one feed going to a sound bar and the other to the bluetooth transmitter. The headset is lightweight and comfortable. This will now be my preferred way of TV watching instead of hearing aids. A big thumbs up.

Bought these for watching TV. Sadly my hearing isn't as good as it was and it gives me the option to increase TV volume on the headphones without disturbing other viewers. Apparently, this ability depends on your TV but fortunately ours is a relatively new 4K Smart TV. The headphones are very comfortable and easy to operate. Sadly it took longer than was necessary to set up because initially we plugged in the cables into the by-pass sockets (didn't realise there were duplicates) so be aware. Had we done it correctly first time, it would have taken seconds. It was only when digging deep on the Avantree website we realised our mistake! Might be that assumptions were made in the Quick Start instructions that we would know?? Simple to charge (use my tablet charger), with long-life battery. Very pleased with purchase.

It all looked good as I unpacked it. I had high hopes they would sound as good as they looked. Using the supplied jack lead from my hifi’s headphone socket directly into the headphones I was reasonably happy with how they sounded. Volume was set at 15-20 which is the range I tend to listen to the speakers. Then I moved on to the wireless system using the transmitter. It paired up very quickly. Then things took a turn for the worst. The volume had to be cranked up to 30-35 and the sound quality was just terrible. Tinny and more like telephone quality than hifi. There were also loud clicks which sounded like some sort of clipping problem to me though I’m no sound expert. I had also thought I might use them with my guitar amp. While there was no notable latency, which is what you need here, once again the sound quality was just abysmal. All of the above was done in the same small room. Sent them back immediately. They were a big disappointment. I’ll be looking for a better solution elsewhere.

Overall this is a fairly ok purchase. That is the highest praise i can give it. It did work according to the instructions and the write-up on amazon. The shortcomings are as follows. 1. The headphone is described is over-ears. I am small size and it barely covered my ears. It is NOT over ears and even for me it was only on-ears. So with people with "bigger heads" beware! lol! 2. The Bluetooth transmitter "speaks" out loudly every single time you connect the device is switched on and every single time the headphone is connected to the transmitter. I live in a small apartment with others and I watch tv late at night. Every time I switch it on it announces to everyone in the apartment that I am watching TV. The manufacturer should have made it possible to switch off this "voice". 3. This might not be a game changer but the power connection is by USB only. Thus you need to buy a USB adapter to connect it to the power socket. It in itself is not much but actually does add to the whole experience which is not positive. Thus, I ended up returning the product for a full refund. I will not recommend to anyone who uses headphones to watch TV regularly and looks for a quality product.

Globalement très satisfait de cet achat. Les points positifs: 1) Le casques est confortable même porté plusieurs heures; 2) La batterie tient très longtemps; 3) Le setup et la connexion est assez simple, les cables pour les différentes options sont fournis (voir néanmoins difficultés ci-dessous) 4) La qualité audio est bonne; 5) Si nécessaire, le casque peut être remplacé par un casque audio plus qualitatif; 6) Le prix est correct pour la qualité du produit. Les points négatifs: 1) Le réglage est à priori simple mais peut nécessiter une configuration spéciale (par example j'ai dû déselectionner l'option "format automatique" dans les options audio avancées sans quoi la connexion entre le tranmitter et le casque ne se faisait pas); 2) Pas d'option de mise en "auto-power off" donc risque de retouver le casque déchargé; 3) Pas de chargeur pour recharger le casque, seul un cable micro-usb - usb; 4) Pas de réglage du son ( bass/treble).

I'm now on my second Avantree product for TV watching/listening. I've used their Audition Pro for many (many!) years and it has served me exceptionally well. But, since the headband is completely worn out and I've gone through a few sets of ear pads, I decided it was time for a replacement. Rather than try for another Audition Pro (I don't think they even still make it) I opted for the HT5009 headset/transmitter package. Very easy to set up the transmitter (I'm using the optical connection with pass through to my sound bar), and the headphones pair quickly and reliably. The headset fits my head and ears as well as the old Audition Pro - very light and comfortable. Sound quality is excellent and I can set the equalization for voice or music listening with a toggle on the headset. The transmitter will support two headphones and will even pair with my old Audition Pro but it isn't a good solution as the voice/video are not perfectly in sync with that old headset. I guess if you want to use two headphones with the transmitter then stick with the headphone model they recommend. One caveat, if you integrate your sound bar and TV via HDMI then the transmitter may not be the best choice as it has to connect via headphone cable or optical connection. And your TV must be set to use PCM output. This is OK for me but might not be for you. All in all, this is a really great solution for TV listening for long after your partner heads off to bed or if you have trouble hearing the dialog on some TV shows. I've not had to use Avantree tech support but there are all sorts of ways to contact them if needed and I feel they will be standing by for my call or email. Highly recommended. UPDATE: I found out that, depending on your TV and sound bar, you can connect your TV to the sound bar via HDMI (allows the TV to turn on/off the sound bar, adjust volume, etc.) and still use the TV's optical output to drive the Avantree headphone transmitter. Still have to set the sound output to PCM (and not Dolby, etc.) but the sound quality is still great on my sound bar. And, since the Avantree transmitter has an optical splitter built in, I now have an optical cable running from the Avantree transmitter to my old low latency bluetooth transmitter that connects to my old Avantree Audition Pro headset. Voila! Both new and old Avantree headsets now connect perfectly so I'm set up for two listeners at once. Even more recommended now.

This now my 3rd type of tv headphones, and they are great, super light and the receiver draws power directly from the tvs usb so no need for an extra power point to plug it in. Happy with that.
